How much blood is too much?

Hello. Sorry if this is a potentially horrible post. I’m am currently miscarrying. It was a multiple pregnancy with only one baby developing (3 sacs with 1 embryo). I was 7 weeks when the baby stopped developing.

I have been bleeding heavily for the last 2 hours. Have changed the pad 4 times now and 2 large clots (although they seemed larger than clots) came out when I was on the loo. I was shocked at how big they felt although I couldn’t see them.

I jus wondered, is the amount of blood because there are 3 sacs? Should I go to the hospital? I feel okay. Not dizzy or lightheaded. I feel determined to get through this.

Hi again. The bleeding kind of got better and I passed about 7 large clots yesterday. Now however I’m in so much pain. It’s mainly lower abdomen and feels better when I go to the loo. I’m having diarrhoea too and still passing small clots. I’ve taken ibuprofen max strength but it’s not touching it. Hot water helps. I’m not sure if this is normal. I thought after passing large clots the worst would be over but this is agony.

Im so sorry, what a horrible thing to happen and for you to worry about what might be normal and what may not be. it might be worth contacting someone and telling them this. I’ve had a missed miscarriage so had to take medication to expel. It was agony for a few hours but then it got better. I did pass a few clots, specially two days later (as big as my palm) but no pain.

The situation was slightly different But what your describing (the pain continuing) doesn’t sound right. Don’t go through this in silence. Do let me know how you get on.

I'm so sorry this is happening to you.

When I had my first mc the hospital said to call back if the clots got to the size of my hand or bigger.

I know that sounds awful but I thought it might help.

Wishing you well for the weeks ahead xx

I’m sorry you’re going through this. I was told if I bled through a pad more frequently than once an hour or clots the size of my palm.

I’d say you might need to call the EPU or head to a&e for very heavy bleeding.

Hi,

Really really hope your okay and sending my love.

I miscarries too with twins however I was slightly further along at 13 weeks but what your describing sounds exactly what happened to me. Please don't hesitate and go on to hospital.

I lost so much blood it was horrendous and I had to have a blood transfusion xx

Thank you everyone. I forgot to say that yesterday I did go to a&e and they did some blood tests and checked my blood pressure etc. They said I could go home and didn’t seem concerned. I didn’t really have any pain though. If it’s still bad I think I’ll call 111 again. My partner is here with me and he’s been great.
