Norethisterone for irregular bleeding after miscarriage

Hi, because I was still bleeding 7 weeks after medical management for MMC, I was given a 3 week course of norethisterone... I was told this should stop the bleeding and to expect a period within a few weeks of finishing.
Over the 3 week course, bleeding actually got worse to start but by the end of the third week it had eased (but never stopped). Within days of finishing the course I started bleeding again, quite heavily and painful cramping. Like heavy first day of my period.
However... Could this be my period? Because the bleeding never stopped and because the heavier bleeding started quickly after finishing the norethisterone, I really don't know, because this is just not what I was told to expect.
I did have a call with my doctor, who wanted to give me another course of tablets and get another scan to ensure there's no tissue left, but I'm sitting worrying if I should take the tablets (haven't got them yet) and if I'm wasting their time if this is a period.
Has anyone had any experience like this that could help shed some light??

I know this is a really old thread… but if anyone could let me know the outcome I’d be really grateful… I’m in the same situation xx
