Period after miscarriage - 3 weeks after miscarriage bleeding very lightly?

I found out when I was 11+1 at a scan on 19th May that my baby didn’t develop beyond 7 weeks, and no longer had a heartbeat. 20th May I had what I can only describe as contraction like pains, followed by extremely heavy bleeding and ended up in hospital. They took out the pregnancy remains in hospital and I was sent home. Bleeding lightened considerably but continued for about a week.

If we’re called the first day of the miscarriage CD1, I am now CD27. I started spotting again around CD24, only very lightly. Initially I thought I may have a UTI or thrush coming as I was uncomfortable in that area, but that only lasted a day and resolved itself. However I’ve continued to spot, and today have had a few times where I’ve gone to the toilet and it’s been quite heavy when I wipe, but not awful. Wearing a panty liner but it’s hardly being used. The issue is I have polycystic ovaries and have never had a cycle shorter than about 45 days, usually they’re anything between 45 and 100. This is nowhere near the amount of blood I’d have for a period, and obviously starting at CD23 is way earlier than I’d usually have.

Just wondering if anyone else had anything similar as I’m very confused as to what is going on at the moment. We want to TTC as soon as we can again but I’ve no idea what my body is doing at the moment but think if I phone the GP and say I’ve started bleeding they’ll just assume it’s my period?

I'm so sorry for your loss xx

I would definitely recommend phoning your doctor though.

I miscarried at 6 and a half weeks a few years ago and had exactly the same as you described; contraction like pains and bleeding, went to hospital and lost a jelly blob, all confirmed with tests within the week but I knew at the time that it was a full MC from the size of it. It was a few years ago now so I will admit I don't remember quite as clearly as someone else might but I definitely didn't have any other bleeding until my next period quite a few weeks on.

If you feel unwell in anyway at all though you should definitely reach out to your GP. my first thought was maybe it didn't all come away properly and that could be the cause? My friend had that issue and she didn't stop bleeding until they managed to get it all.
