Miscarriage or not?

I am (was) 5 weeks pg. I started bleeding and cramping yesterday. I’ve had previous mc’s so thought that was it.

However, today the bleeding has slowed a lot. My loss has been much less than a normal period (mine are heavy) and hugely less than previous mc’s where I bled profusely (even at 5 weeks) but still several large pads worth.

I don’t know what to do. I was assuming it’s all over — but is it? Am I daft for keeping some hope? Should I go to the EPU? (I feel nervous about going anywhere near a hospital at this time.)

Yes I'd call the EPU, maybe get a scan booked, if you go too soon you'll have to have a second scan since you are so early on so I would hold off as long as possible. I've had 3 healthy children and several miscarriages and I'm in the same position as you, 5w+4 and woken up to bright red heavy bleeding. You are not daft for keeping your hopes up, everything could still be ok, definitely give EPU a call. I had bleeding with 1st pregnancy and all was fine. It isn't always bad news.

Thanks for your kind reply. Hope it all works out for you. IIRC the local EPU doesn’t answer the phone... I think it’s probably all over but don’t want to do anything wrong.
