Possible miscarriage

Hi all just looking for some advice. I'm 45 and have suffered with very heavy periods for a couple of years now. I was due to have the Ablation done but it was cancelled due to current circumstances. Anyway I started what I thought was my period on Saturday but it felt somewhat different to what I usually go through. By Sunday I had a lot of pain in my lower abdomen, lower sides and back which kept me awake most the night. I rang the doctor as it felt like I had possible pelvic infection, he told me to take paracetamol and bare with it for a week. Pain carried on and off throughout the rest of the week but bleeding seemed to get heavier which is nothing new for me. Last night around 7.30 I started bleeding quite heavily for about 30 minutes soaked everything through, I tried to stand up to get to the bathroom when I felt something quite large pass. When I got to the bathroom and checked what I had passed it was quite large but didn't look like my usual clots. After I had passed it the excessive bleeding stopped and just had low aching in my tummy area and mild bleeding. Still the same this morning and feel sick. I'm not sure what the hell happened, do I contact the doctor?

If it was a miscarriage a pregnancy test would still be positive. So worth doing one to check. If you have passed a possible sac and bleeding subsiding then sadly little dr or epau would do now. If bleeding or cramping gets substantially worse and preg test positive then definitely need to speak to GP or directly to your local epau.
Hope things settle x

Sorry to hear this. I agree, you need to do a pregnancy test to be sure. If you were pregnant, how far along would you have been?

Sorry if TMI, but to check the clots, soak them in salty water. A true clot will eventually dissolve completely into the water, whereas pregnancy tissue wont dissolve.

Do you have fibroids? Smears up to date?

Thank you for your replies have sent my partner out for a test to check. Ah right ok didn't know this. No fibroids have had an internal camera again this year to check and smears up to date all good there.

Let us know how you get on. How far along would you be, IF pregnant?

I've done a test it's come back negative, very early I know exactly when I would have been caught and would have only been six days ago.

Far more likely a gynae issue then than pregnancy. Keep notes, so you recall the details when you do see GP or Gynae. If bleeding remains heavy, GP may prescribe tranexamic acid given your history.

I'm already on tranexamic acid, contacted doctor today didn't seem overly concerned. My bleeding has settled compared the last few days was just advised to take ibuprofen and carry on with the mini pill. Thank you for your advice
