Bad cramping - should I be worried?

Hi everyone, I wondered if I could have some advice.

3 days ago I found out that I’m about 5 weeks pregnant. I’ve had the majority of symptoms (sore boobs, nausea etc) but the must prevalent of all is excessive trapped wind and I’ve had bouts of constipation and I’m sooo bloated. I’ve had pretty much constant mild period pain too which I’ve not worried about as allegedly this is implantation pains.

Last night however, I woke up with the most horrific cramping in my lower abdomen and the pain spread through to my lower back. I went to the toilet and had no bleeding, but the pain continued for about an hour before subsiding.

I phoned the maternity triage line and they said as I’d not bled, the pain wasn’t at one side and it’s only 5 weeks, to sit tight and monitor my symptoms. I’m so worried though as the pain was so intense and it’s my first pregnancy so I don’t know how normal this is. Obviously I’ve googled it which has given me the fear massively.

If it was a miscarriage, should I have bled by now? Any advice would be much appreciated. I’ve booked in for a 6 week private scan for peace of mind but can’t be seen till early May due to Covid 19.

Thank you xxx

Hi Asherzxxx, hope you are well and the pain has subsided. I had the exact same pain last night and phoned my local hospital as it caused me to nearly faint! They said to call back if the pain got worse or if bleeding started, it might be just one of those things?!

I have had 3 miscarriages in the past year and the thing that gives me hope is that I bled first and didn’t have these cramps until a few days after bleeding so hopefully it’s just your body adjusting/wind? I hope you get some answers soon I am going to try and get an early scan to have piece of mind to.
