Is this over?

I am 6 weeks and had noticed the symptoms weren't as intense over the last few days so did my last cheap Asda test a couple of days ago and the line was quite faint, but there.

Today I woke up feeling no symptoms of pregnancy anymore (I don't have any more tests to check). My boobs are still quite full and heavy, but the nipple sensitivity has completely gone. I've been having a hard time with the hormones making me rage as well, but today I feel like my old pre-pregnant self.

Most worryingly, I've started to bleed. It's only a little, and only when I wipe. It started off quite brown and a little stringy, and now it's most definitely light red. I'm not cramping yet, but my belly feels tender - very much like it does right before AF.

I'm scared. What can I do other than wait it out? My GP won't see me because of Coronavirus, and I haven't even had my first antenatal appointment confirmation yet (registered and in the system). Who do I call? What do I do? Is this normal? Or am I miscarrying?

In just a couple of hours the cramps have started and the bleeding got heavier. It's not like a light period and the cramping mild but constant.

I think this is over.

Call/online 111, they should point you in the direction of your nearest early pregnancy unit. It could be a miscarriage or it could be fine, symptoms fluctuate and some bleeding can be normal too. Fingers crossed for you

QueenieMum · 24/03/2020 14:14

@jazzibelle I'm so sorry to hear this. Do you have an EPU near you that you could call for advice, or your community midwives team (your GP surgery should be able to give you the number). I doubt that anyone will be able to see you in person but you should still be able to get some professional advice over the phone. Will be thinking of you ThanksThanks

jazzibelle · 24/03/2020 14:21

@BuffaloCauliflower @QueenieMum thanks both. Called the midwife team and they told me to call my GP. My GP receptionist told me to call the midwife. On hold with 111 now (there's an hour long wait).

I'm not hopeful. Something in me just knows...

I’m sorry, I’ve had a loss at a similar time and I know that ‘just know’ feeling. You may well still be fine, but if it’s not it’s really very normal, most women will have at least one and there’s no reason you won’t go on to have a healthy pregnancy. Hang in there x

oooompa · 24/03/2020 14:24

@jazzibelle I hope you get to speak to someone soon Flowers take care of yourself

LaurenB1 · 24/03/2020 17:54

I’m currently going through the same situation. Hoping things are okay for you.

I would have been 8 weeks pregnant today, however had a miscarriage last Tuesday/Wednesday. I didn’t know I could get pregnant and the worst thing now is how much I know I want it.

I started to have some light cramps on Monday evening, they came and went on Tuesday of last week and on Tuesday evening I started to bleed lightly, this seemed to stop but when I woke on Wednesday morning I was bleeding heavily, very red fresh blood. Around 3pm was when it happened & I’ll never forget it.

I called EPU and I felt completely alone, I was due to have a scan tomorrow, this has been cancelled and I’ve been advised to take a pregnancy test in 3 weeks time. I haven’t been seen by anyone at all and don’t know what happens now.

When can we try again?
How long do we have to wait to have intercourse again?
How do I know everything has passed?

I find it such a difficult time & don’t know where to find the answers x

jazzibelle · 24/03/2020 18:55

Thanks all, just back from the Urgent Care Centre (advised by 111) and they confirmed it's a threatened miscarriage. A test showed a very faint positive, but I'm now bleeding heavier and cramping a lot. The doctor was kind and said to come back if I'm bleeding like a tap or have sharp pains on one side. I asked him for his opinion on whether this is it, and he said "I'm sorry, but yes I think it is". I know there's hope etc. but I'm not clinging to it.

Unfortunately the EPU is closed down and they can't scan. I don't seem a risk from ectopic, so I have been sent home and told to let nature take its course.

The doctor gave me some tests to do in 10-days to confirm a negative result.

Feeling quite numb and empty, but what can you do? I just have to wait for it to pass, have a natural period, and then TTC again.

@jazzibelle so sorry to read this.

Feel free to PM me if you want someone to talk to.

Maybe we can help each other through x

jazzibelle · 24/03/2020 22:05

@laurenb1 thanks 🙏🏼 I’m pretty sure I just passed it. The bleeding has been mildish so far, but a gigantic bit of tissue a bit bigger than a 50p just came away as I wiped. I assume that was it, and now I am in the mother of all periods.

Hope you’re doing ok. It’s a weird time as all EPUs seem to be closed. I’m by no means an expert, but I think one natural period needs to happen before trying again.

Oh no, sorry to hear this. Hope you have someone with you to support you x

jazzibelle · 24/03/2020 22:24

@laurenb1 I do, DH is here. It’s been a very weird and emotional day. Still wrapping my head around the fact I woke up 6 weeks pregnant, and now I’m not.

Everyone talks of very heavy bleeding, and so far it has been like a light period (tissue blob aside) What worries me is my EPU being closed and scans unavailable, so I won’t know if I passed it all or not.

How are you holding up?

Somama · 24/03/2020 22:38

@jazzibelle so so sorry to hear of your loss. Nearly 2 weeks ago i miscarried at around 6 weeks. Felt a slight cramp and then i saw some bleeding. Called 111 and a dr called me who advised me to go to a&e. They done some blood tests and urine tests but told me monitor bleeding to see how heavy it gets (initially light bleeding) dr referred me to EPU. They called me the next working day so i got an appointment at epu for a scan couple of days later by which my bleeding was a lot heavier.

Scan showed the sac but difficult to determine what was inside but i had blood tests done which showed pregnancy hormones dropped in which case i have miscarried. I still haven't seen the sac pass but was advised that this may come out in my next menstrual cycle. I stopped bleeding after 7 days.

Its taken nearly 2 weeks to feel emotionally better, I've kind of accepted it. Hopefully with passage of time you willl feel better. If you can, id suggest going to a&e to see if any scan can be booked.

X

LaurenB1 · 24/03/2020 22:39

@jazzibelle

I’m the exact same last Tuesday morning I woke up and had a little life growing & now it’s gone. I feel strange.

I started off having very light pink blood only when I wiped & when I woke the following morning it was very heavy and fresh and red.

I feel that way too currently, I don’t know if it’s all passed either and have just been told to take another PG test in 3 weeks x

jazzibelle · 24/03/2020 23:02

@Somama so sorry for your loss. Unfortunately because of Coronavirus the EPU is closed and they won’t scan.

I know it’s the fault of the situation we find ourselves in right now, but I do feel kind of own my own with it.

I’m pretty certain the sac passed earlier, I was shocked at how quickly it all happened.

OP posts:
Somama · 24/03/2020 23:07

Its sometimes better to have slme closure if you did see the sac pass through. I miscarried om Saturday, had scan lm wednesday where i saw the sac and saturday stopped bleeding. Im sure i havent passed the sac so concerned that the mc hasn't completed. Give yourself sometime, with time you feel a bit better xx

jazzibelle · 25/03/2020 19:52

Thanks all for your comments. Still feeling unsure and weird about everything, mostly because I don't know what's normal. I'm still bleeding, but only when I wipe. Some clots, mostly just light red mixed with a sticky clear discharge. Expected to wake up this morning soaked through... is it normal to not bleed heavily during a miscarriage?

The cramping is still happening, it's constant and more of a dull cramp than coming in waves like AF. Also passed what looked like a second but of pregnancy tissue last night. Neither bits of tissue had anything recognisable in it, it was like a clear glob of sac with lots of little clots attached.

Took a test today and it came back BFN, can my HCG deplete so quickly?

Have managed to get an appointment at the EPU tomorrow for a scan, which will confirm if complete or not. Everything seems so contradictory to what I've read other' experience is like.

jazzibelle · 25/03/2020 21:17

@LaurenB1 I was thinking about you today, and you mentioned you haven't had a scan... I called the midwife team (despite not having actually seen them yet) explained everything and they said I must come in for a scan to check everything has passed. They put me through to the EPU who said I needed a referral from the Urgent Care Centre or my GP. Not wanting to spend the day in A&E I badgered my doctor (who tried twice to just tell me to test again in a week and if positive they'd scan me) for a referral. In the end I had to call the EPU back, get the email address, email that back to my doctor and within 2-hours they EPU called and booked my scan.

Don't give up. You have to check everything is ok post-mc. Can you call your midwife team tomorrow and try and get a referral to your EPU to get checked out? I'm worried for you that they're not scanning you to check everything is complete.

@jazzibelle hi sorry I hadn’t realised you had commented again.

I’ve been feeling pretty normal (whatever that means) I didn’t have a scan afterward. It will be 4 weeks on Wednesday since it happened, I took a test last week and it’s negative.

Hope all is okay with you x
