misoprostol-how much blood loss?

Hi all,

I found out on Wednesday at my 12 week scan that the baby hadn’t developed past 7 weeks. Absolutely devastated is an understatement.

I took misoprostol yesterday and am just looking for other people’s experiences with how much blood they lost as I’m concerned I didn’t lose as much as I should.

I took the tablet at 2pm, horrendous cramps about 3/4 hours later but no blood. I then had a small amount of blood at about 7pm. I then felt a need to go to the toilet and I had a very large clot/mass of tissue. The cramping had pretty much completely stopped after this. I went to the toilet a few more times and had some blood clots but nothing too horrendous. I’m bleeding now but like a period and cramps have gone.

I’ve read stories online that say how heavy the bleeding is and I’m a bit concerned as I don’t think mine has been that bad? Did anyone else have a similar experience? I’m also thinking more might come out today but not sure if it’s done now.

I needed to take to misoprostol after 5 weeks of continuous miscarrying but still retaining products. I didn't think mine had worked as I had very little pain. Just a sudden onset of sharp cramping on my way home from hospital and if anything the bleeding lessened. I took it on Thursday and was all but ready to go back on the Monday and take the next lot. Picked my Other Half up and nipped into the supermarket on the way back home. Stood paying for my shopping and felt something move and come down. Rushed back home and went to the toilet and there on the tissue paper was something that resembled a chunk of raw fatty meat. I'm not actually sure what it was or if it was our Baby because the scan I had to confirm my miscarriage said the sac had collapsed and a couple of weeks before I'd had lots of very heavy bleeding and had passed numerous hand sized clots. I did bury the remains in a little heart shaped plant pot though

Sorry to reply to your post was from a number of years ago, but I am going through the exact scenario. Could you let me know how you got on? I am worried I have not bled enough but have been told to not contact the EPU until 72 hours after taking the Misoprostol.
