Going Private for recurrent miscarriage investigation

Hello everyone, I just wanted to get some advise and sorry in advance this is going to be long.

I was referred to GYNY by my GP in Sept after my 4th miscarriage (3rd consecutive). At the time I was already waiting to be seen by GYNY to have a biopsy done of my uterine lining to check for endometrial hyperplasia. The consultant in GYNY phoned me in Sept also to talk about this and I mentioned to her about my miscarriages and was told I would be seen in Dec as I needed to wait for all my hormones to go back to normal.

Fast forward Dec, I contacted outpatient appointments to be told I wouldn't be seen until around April time. I left a message with the consultants secretary and received a letter last month to ring and book an appointment. When I rang I was informed the consultant and ONLY consultant in GYNY had a fall and would be off for some time. They couldn't tell me when they would have a new consultant or when I would be seen.

I have been with Benenden Healthcare for over a year and just contacted them today to see if they could help. I've never went private with anything and personally couldn't afford to. They have asked for a referral letter from my GP and then they base their decision off of that.

I just wanted to know has anyone went through health insurance for this, what way to go about it and how it worked out? Is there things I should be asking my GP to put in the referral letter and is it even GYNY who I'm supposed to be seeing for the recurrent miscarriages? Also if anyone could recommend a consultant in Belfast would be great.

Benenden had mentioned a sum of money which I would use for the tests that need carried out but I'm not sure it would even cover them. I don't want to get in over my head only to be told it would all amount to a sum of money I couldn't afford.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you to anyone who's taken the time to read this lol xO
