Feeling depressed

Just went through a mc on New Year’s Eve. Feeling very depressed at work but can’t miss work. Seeing my pregnant colleagues makes me feel like crying and heartbroken. Feels so bad and I kept asking myself ‘why me?’ Wish I could be stronger.

You are very strong though being back at work so soon. Give yourself more credit and look after yourself. I can empathise about seeing other people pregnant when that’s what you want or would have had. I can imagine if you have to see them every day it must be even tougher. Does anyone at your work know what you’ve been through? Xx

Thank you for your kind words. Just a couple of people know but it feels more and more difficult to be at work since they are pregnant. Feels like I am on the verge of breaking down at work.

Ok, I think you need to go see your GP and get signed off with stress. Try to get an emergency appointment for tomorrow so you can get signed off next week. You can let your manager know you are attending an emergency GP appointment and then see them and tell them what happened and hopefully you can show them your doctors note to be signed off for a bit. Even a week would help to just rest and recoup.

Perhaps tell someone else at work if you don’t feel you can be open with your manager.

If you have had no time off for this you really need to take some! Your health, including mental health, comes first before work.

Is there a close friend outside of work you could confide in?

Unfortunately not. I will think about getting time off from a GP. Thanks.
