Miscarriage but could I be pregnant again?

Hi all,

I had a miscarriage at 7weeks (this was 4 weeks ago), I was given a low sensitivity pregnancy test (will only trigger if the pregnancy hormone is still over 1000) to take three weeks after I miscarried to ensure it was all gone. This came back positive, even though all my previous pregnancy symptoms were away.I am booked in later this week to get a scan to ensure no tissue/remains are left inside me. However the last 3 days I've been having pregnancy like symptoms again, sore head, dizzy , nausea, sore boobs etc. I had unprotected sex a good few times since I miscarried (after the bleeding stopped).last night I took a clear blue digital test that said I was 2-3 weekd(since conception) which would probably tie in with the times I was having un protected sex, but would I have ovulated if my hormones were that high after the loss?!

Or could it be that my levels of hormones have just dropped to within the range of the CB digital test and it's saying I'm 2-3 weeks but a false positive?

Don't want to get my hopes up too soon.

Apologies for the rambling post

If CB is saying 2-3 weeks then that would put you at 4-5 weeks pregnant which I suppose could be possible. The readings are based on averages and so you could be less far on or even further ahead. Or it could be leftover tissues from the previous pregnancy but the HCG seem a bit too high for that. Could you go to EPU and ask for blood tests over a few days to see if HCG is rising?

Thanks for your reply, really hoping it's not left over tissue. I have a scan to double check for tissue on Friday so will ask about blood tests when I'm in

They may even see something during the scan if you’re 5 weeks. I’m sure they’ll take bloods and monitor you if there’s any possibility of pregnancy. Good luck.

Just an update, had my scan and turns out it's a 1cm blood clot left over. Have been given antibiotics and to go back in two weeks to see if it has disappeared. So disappointed 😭

So sorry for what you've been through

This is exactly why they ask you to do a test 3 weeks after to make sure you're not showing a positive test and to avoid unprotected sex before that. So that way, if the test is positive they know there is retained product, rather than a new baby

OP I’m so sorry. Given it was a blood clot have they discussed blood thinning treatment for a future pregnancy?

Alicespring · 04/01/2020 21:02

They didn't, I've to go back in two weeks to get re scanned and given antibiotics in the mean time to ensure it doesn't become infected. I will ask about that when I'm there next, thanks so much for your help
