Periods after miscarriage

Starting a new thread here as I haven't been able to find much info.

I had a miscarriage at 6+3 in August. My periods have been regular since, but extremely heavy and painful. I take painkillers which don't do much and I have to have a hot water bottle constantly, even at work! Sometimes having to take the day off. Before I had the mc my periods were quite light/normal but since this has happened (tmi) there has been blood literally pouring into the toilet.
I had a natural mc with no need for d&c. They just let me go, with no information whatsoever so I am clueless on what is normal. It also is quite painful going to the toilet I should add.

Does everyone experience this or should I take a visit to the gp?

Thanks in advance!

@bailey93

So sorry to hear about what you've been going through. I don't have the answer, but my experience of cycle coming back hasn't been like that - I had a missed miscarriage and surgery at the start of September and have only had one period since then, which was normal for me (not very heavy). I have seen other women post about having heavier or irregular periods after a miscarriage, but would definitely suggest you go to the GP if you're worried about it - they will be able to advise you much better than Google, or at least refer you on to more specialist services.

Really hope that things improve for you soon Flowers

Hey I'm in the same boat, I had a miscarriage at 5 weeks in October and 3 cycles after my periods are getting heavier, I think I might go to the dr as I'm worried it's effecting my fertility chances? Xx

Hi @AliSxo. So sorry you had to go through that, it's one of the hardest things I've ever gone through so I am thinking of you and hope you are ok.
I must say now I am on my 4th cycle since my miscarriage and they are definitely calming down now and not as heavy! I think my body is finally getting back to normal. I think it depends on the person how quickly that may be.
If you're concerned I would most definitely still go to your gp. But wanted to give you something positive! Xx

Hi @Bailey93 thanks for your reply, this is my 3rd period since and it's so heavy, I was on the pill for years so very light periods and then came off in August and they got slightly heavier but nothing heavy, got pregnant on our 2nd cycle but lost it... however 3 periods that have followed have been really heavy so I'm going to see if I can get in at the drs as maybe this is why I'm still not getting pregnant? Xx
