2 MCs this year - looking for hopeful stories

I had a stillbirth at 37 weeks 2.5 years ago. No known cause, and on reflection / investigation it appears there were issues with the hospital dropping the ball on multiple occasions.

Got pregnant right away and had DD later that year.

She’s now nearly 2 and I had an MC at 6 weeks in the summer and another MC now at 4-5 weeks (after 2 periods in between).

Anyone gone on to have a successful pregnancy? I know these early MCs are inexplicable and quite common. If I hadn’t tested last week I’d have just thought it was a late heavy period - had no other pregnancy symptoms.

I really want a larger family and am struggling today. Just looking for some hopeful stories and any suggestions for next time.

I had two miscarriages back to back this year- first at 5 weeks (same as you, thought it was a late period at first) second at 8 weeks (had an ERPC). I am now 14 weeks pregnant and all going well, although it has been a really nerve wracking few months. This time around I took 75mg aspirin and progesterone pessaries (prescribed by GP) from 6 weeks. I have no idea if that made the difference. Hang in there and I’m sure it will happen for you. Sorry for your previous loss, too Flowers

Thank you @VisionsofJohanna - I’ll ask about progesterone. Given my history I’m usually asked to take aspirin from 12 weeks, but will check if earlier will help.

Just waiting for the bleeding to stop and desperately want to try again. Sorry for your losses, and keeping fingers crossed this bean is doing well!

I had three miscarriages in under a year - at 7, 10 and 11 weeks. I had all the tests done by the NHS and nothing came back and was told this was just bad luck. But it was 4th time lucky and I now have a 10 week old baby boy. I didn't do anything differently with my successful pregnancy.

So sorry about your stillbirth and miscarriages. I have multiple issues that means yes I get pregnant easily but don’t stay pregnant. So 7 pregnancies and 2 children (both born early at 30/31 weeks)

Thanks @misstime and @MrsPear - keeping my fingers crossed for now.

@Bisquick hi OP, I just wanted to say I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I'm feeling lost and devastated after one miscarriage a few weeks ago, so I can't imagine how you're feeling. Sending you love and luck x

@VisionsofJohanna hi, I hope you don't mind me asking - how were you prescribed the progesterone pessaries? I have really long, irregular cycles, have miscarried this year and I'm sure my progesterone is low but my doctor won't take me seriously so I don't know whether to go private or not. x

VisionsofJohanna · 12/11/2019 16:54

@danielasummer I made a private appointment at six weeks with a Consultant (had been advised to do this next time I was pregnant by the doc who did my ERPC in April). The Consultant did an early scan and prescribed the pessaries for two weeks. When they ran out I called my local GP who was happy to repeat prescribe (although mentioned there is no evidence they work) and I transferred care to NHS. The NHS midwives then upped my aspirin dose from 75mg to 150mg at my booking in, and were happy for me to stay on the progesterone until 12 weeks.
Happy to say nearly 16 weeks now and all seems well. Sending luck to all.

Sorry I realise my first post says I was initially prescribed by GP which is not quite right.
@Bisquick I hope you are doing ok too

danielasummer · 13/11/2019 18:55

@VisionsofJohanna thank you for sharing and your advice. I'm just worried I won't make it to 6 weeks as I was only 6+3 when I miscarried so it may be too late for me. Only time will tell. Good luck to you x
