Miscarriage advise needed

I found out I was pregnant 15/9/19. It was 4 weeks since FDLP. Four days later I started bleeding, it started off fairly light and mainly brownish like old blood, but got fresher and heavier as the days went by. I had a scan yesterday 30/9/19, where they could see a small sac but nothing else. My hcg result was very low, about 80. The nurse at EPU basically said it’s not viable, sorry, bye, no offer of any further help or blood tests to see if the hcg continues to go down. I went to my GP this morning and they can’t offer anything else. I keep telling every medical professional I talk to that I’ve been bleeding for nearly two weeks now but no one seems bothered. I feel like I’ve just been abandoned. I had a few small clots earlier but nothing super heavy, bleeding tends to dry up towards the evening and then start again the next morning so will have to see what the rest of today brings. Can feel the occasional cramp/pain but not particularly strong. Am I supposed to still be bleeding? Am I meant to just sit around bleeding indefinitely or does it get to a point where it’s not normal? Is this a super slow miscarriage or something? I just want this to be over so I can move on and try again.

I had this after my miscarriage, turned out it was retained placenta; but to be honest I can't remember how long it want on for.

I am so sorry you are going through this OP, be kind to yourself and do whatever feels right for you.

I've had several miscarriages from between 6 weeks and 12 weeks - the bleeding can last anything up to 2 weeks but I'd say the heaviest point is usually only a day or so x

Thanks both for your messages, the bleeding has gone really light now but I can still feel the odd cramp so I wouldn’t be surprised if it came back in the morning. Just really want it to be over, I’ve been so sad and frustrated for the past week :( the EPU nurse said to take a preg test next week and ring them if it still shows positive so I’ll maybe do that Saturday or Sunday.

OP, I'd say if it continues into the third week you may want to push them harder. Perhaps they could scan you and see if you have any retained products and give you misoprostol or offer ERPC if required, to complete the MC. You should also be taking iron tablets now (unless you specifically can't for other reasons, obviously) and rest a lot. Don't push yourself too hard now and obviously, no dtd, swimming, hot tubs etc until you stop bleeding to protect yourself from an infection. So sorry for your loss and what you're going through xxx

@MrsMGE thank you for your advice, I had a lot of cramping last night and generally felt a bit ‘funny’ but the bleeding is no heavier this morning, just the same. I am going to give myself until after the weekend and take a test Monday morning, if it’s still showing positive or I’m still bleeding then I’ll ring the EPU. I had yesterday off work but have gone back in today, I don’t feel good but I get anxious being off work and feel like an inconvenience to every one else :/

So sorry you are going through this. I went through similar I'm late July/ early August. I was bleeding for 5 weeks in total. The first 2 weeks I was told i was not bleeding heavily enough to be miscarrying, scanned after a week of bleeding told all looked ok and to come back in two weeks. Finally had a second scan to be told I had miscarried. Bleeding was lighter than a period for the whole 5 weeks and I had only one day of cramping (which was no more painful than period pain ). About a week after the bleeding stopped I passed a large clot, doctor said that was normal and my period would come within a week (which it did).

It was hard because it lasted so long and felt never ending. Make sure you rest and take care of yourself.

You shouldn't feel this way, it's a serious matter and if you inform your work that it is pregnancy related they cannot treat any such absence against you, OP. Xxx

My manager has been very understanding but we are a small team so only I do what I do, other people can cover me to an extent but they’re all trying to do their own jobs as well, it’s just easier for me to come in. I’m not in a customer facing role or anything so I can keep to myself if I don’t feel like being sociable

@suchasoftersin thank you for sharing your experience, it sounds very similar to mine so that is comforting. I will give it a few more days and if I don’t feel any better I’ll ring EPU, feel a bit sick and dizzy as well. It does feel never-ending, it’s so draining physically and emotionally :(

Did a preg test this morning and got a very faint positive. Rang EPU to the tell them and inform them I was STILL bleeding but they said to just do one again at the end of the week and call back. I have been bleeding 2 and a half weeks now, the last week has been with clots and some mucus (a bit like the clear egg white mucus you get during ovulation). It’s very light during evenings until mornings and then gets heavier once I’ve been up for short while and continues through to the afternoon. I'm worried about it and no one seems to care. I don't know what to expect, what's normal or when I should be concerned. No mention of any follow up care, I've just been left on my own to deal with something that I don't understand. It’s upsetting me on a daily basis, I feel like I can’t move on and I have no control over my body :(
