Ectopic Advice?

Hi everyone, I'm hoping for some advice from people who have been through or going through similar.

By LMP I am 7+2. I went to the EPU on Friday after a few days of light period like bleeding. A scan showed an empty uterus but couldn't see anything in my tubes of concern either, so I had 48 hour bloods done my results are

Friday - 313
Sunday - 397
Today - 419

I know it is looking likely ectopic. I was just wondering what the next steps will be? I am due back in hospital tomorrow morning for further examination/possible treatment. Will they just do the injection tomorrow, or will they want to do the keyhole to look around?

I'm so sorry @Tisfortired, I remember speaking to you on the conception board Flowers

I'm not sure about the treatment for ectopic if they've not found where it's located. I'd probably go on prepared to stay in.

I'm around 7+5 and back at the epu next Friday for a possible mmc. The thing I find the hardest is they don't tell you anything, just that I need to go back for a rescan and won't discuss what happens next.

I did call Tommy's yesterday and spoke with a midwife and she was really helpful, best person I've spoken to in either of my miscarriages, so it might be worth contacting them.

Best wishes ❤️ Xx

I've had two ectopics and given your hcg levels it does look likely sorry

They will most likely offer you a drug called methotrexate - it's not a nice drug but effective at what it does. It's basically used to treat cancer amongst other things and works by stopping cell division. Usually has to be given on the cancer ward (so adds to the upset of it all). Hcg May continue to rise for 4 days but then should decrease. Can make you feel pretty rubbish - very very tired. And you'll have to have blood tests every 2 days to confirm hcg is falling. It can also affect your liver and so drinking can make you feel even worse for a couple of months afterwards

Of course there is always the risk it won't work - mine didn't and I ruptured anyway however my hcg was closer to 5000

It's very important that you don't try to conceive again for 3 months if you have one shot of methotrexate and 6 months If you have two. It removes all folic acid from the body and so can cause miscarriage and birth defects if you get pregnant with it still in your system
