Retained tissue / product

I googled this and it came up with a few threads on different sites but they were all from 2010-2012 so nothing recent to speak to anyone about!

Has anyone got pregnant whilst still having a tiny bit of retained tissue inside of them (4mm) I’ve been told it’s completely safe to ttc again as it’s only a tiny amount of tissue and my pregnancy tests have been negative for weeks.

Quick story - MMC 10th July, had medical management 3 days later where I passed all of the baby/sac but was told there was still quite a lot of placenta but after staying in overnight they were confident I’d pass it at home. Few days later majority of placenta came out and a week later I had a scan where they said there was a tiny bit of retained product but no cause for concern it’ll come out by itself whenever.

I was just wondering if there was any successful pregnancy stories whilst being in this position?

It’s been 6+ weeks now and I still haven’t had a period so I’m tempted to just start having unprotected sex and just see what happens!

Also I’ve heard that this may just shrink/absorb on its own and can come out in discharge?! Sounds weird and I’ve never heard of that before so don’t know whether that person got it wrong 😂 Thankyou in advance xx

Hopeful bump! I'll potentially be in a similar position. My hospital seems to think as long as test is negative there's no cause for concern to ttc again. Good luck xx

I was always lead to believe that any small retained tissue should come out with your first period. And that's it's best not to get pregnant until this has happened just in case.
But yes if a pregnancy test comes back negative you should be ok to start trying again.
If you haven't had a period in 6 weeks you might want to check with dr that it is only small bit retained. Have you done a pregnancy test to see if your hcg has dropped yet?

@plixy I’ve had a scan so I know exactly how much is retained and I’ve done a pregnancy test that’s negative. I’ve also spoke to two different health care professionals so I know I’m fine to try just wondering if there was any positive stories to lift my spirits haha :) I’ve heard women who have took 2-3 months for their cycle to return without any retained product, such a frustrating wait!
