When will this miscarriage be over?

I have been bleeding brown blood for about 7 days. I had a scan and everything was fine, we seen the heartbeat.

The blood turned red a few days ago but stayed quite light. Then yesterday I had a huge gush of blood and thready bits so went to a&e. The doctor said my cervix is open and bulging so I am miscarrying. I have been bleeding bright red blood since yesterday morning and the rest of it still hasn’t come out. How long will this go on?

Including the brown bleeding, this has been going on 11 days now. I just want to move on.

I have a scan Wednesday morning. To check I guess everything has gone.

I am so sorry you're going through this.

I don't have any experience of letting a miscarriage take its own course; I have always opted for medical management (tablets/pessaries) once miscarriage has been confirmed. With both of my miscarriages I bled for around two weeks, with quite a lot of clots passing late in that time frame during my second miscarriage.

I would imagine the bleeding could last longer without the medical management to speed things along, but I am not medically qualified.

Take care of yourself xx

With mine I had period type pains for about 48hrs before, light red bleeding, then about 24hrs of painful cramps and gushing blood. Pain eased off after that and I bled quite heavily for another 2 weeks. I took iron and multivitamin tablets in case that helped.

I hope you're not in too much pain, it's hard enough to go through as it is. Xx
