Hi, I found out at 8.5 weeks that my baby’s heart had stopped beating around 7/8 weeks. The hospital suggested that I wait a week to see if a natural miscarriage would happen, it didn’t so I went back in on Wednesday and had a pessary inserted, had cramps Wednesday afternoon and I passed the sac that evening. I was ok yesterday but had cramps early this morning and have passed this. I have no idea what it is, I’m waiting for a call back from the EPU but thought someone on here may know?

I’ve currently got it wrapped in a tissue because if it is not simply just a clot then I don’t want to flush it. This whole process is so upsetting

Hi OrangeHue

I’m so sorry for your loss! I’m quite new on this board and regularly have a look at the pregnancy loss section as I myself lost a baby very recently at 17 weeks.

That looks to me like placenta. I had something similar and was told to take it into the maternity unit for them to confirm so I would assume they will do the same with you.

Sadly I’ve learnt that the most heartbreaking situation also comes with a horrible process (like this) we unfortunately have to go through too!

I hope you’re as ok as you can be at this time and I hope you get some decent support from your hospital. I found SANDs a really helpful website to read through x

I agree looks like it could be placenta. Just keep it for them to confirm.

Sorry this has happened to you. Like the previous poster I also had a loss at 17 weeks (16+6 to be exactly) x

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss too! I was also exactly 16/6 when I gave birth. I hope you don't mind me asking whether it was recently?

Hi @OrangeHue
I’m so sorry to read what you’re going through. I’m experiencing an early miscarriage.
I had fresh IVF transfer of a donor day 6 blastocysts on the 30th July and a faint BFP 8 days later. My HCG 2 days after that was 210. I kept feeling damp downstairs and regularly panicked that I was bleeding. I got to week 5 on Thur 15th Aug and the anxiety started to settle down. I went to meet friends for lunch the next day. Has the damp feeling again....but this time it was blood. Pink blood. I called the IVF clinic who told me not to panic but to go home and lie on my left side for a minimum of 48hours. Complete bed rest. I started to develop quite strong cramps. The blood reduced for a short while to spotting then came back bright red and I passed tissue. Once the tissue past the cramping reduced significantly....but my tender breasts and sickness also seemed to reduce too.
It wasn’t a lot of tissue. What looked like a grey sac (about the size of a mini pickled onion) with a stringy bloody tail.
I went this morning to the early pregnancy unit and they couldn’t see a gestational sac on the scan, but could see a little bit of pooled blood, so agreed I’d likely miscarried. They took blood for an HCG and have to go again on Monday to retest HCG before results of both Tuesday afternoon.
I called the IVF clinic back and they said they want me to continue with the drugs and bed rest until I get my HCG results back just in case it was too early to see a sac. It feels to me like they’re giving false hope which is just harder for me to process.
All of this just sucks! Life is so cruel sometimes!x

I passed something that looked like this 10 days after medical management (scared the crap out of me as I thought it was all over, met a friend for coffee and ended contracting in the Debenhams toilets). Mine was pretty hard, and it wasn't the sac as I'd been scanned and they said I'd passed that already.
I called the EPU but they said not to worry unless I bleed really heavily, that it might have been a clot or "tissue".
I hope your pain and bleeding is over soon.

@waitingfortherainbow1 yes it was 4 weeks ago. Seems like a lifetime ago. Hope you're doing ok xx
