My last period started on the 14th June, I started taking pregnancy tests from around 22nd July as I realised I was late. I got a few negative up until 2nd August when I got a positive test, followed by 3 more positives (including 2 clear blue digital which said 1-2 weeks). I had his confirmed by my GP surgery who sent my urine sample off to the lab, and was then referred to a midwife. Before I got chance to hear from the midwife, I decided to take another test which came back negative, followed by another 2 negative tests (used first morning wee). I have since seen my doctor who has done a urine test and a blood test and said that I am not pregnant, and could not give an explanation as to why I’d had the positives. I am so confused as I felt like I’d started getting pregnancy symptoms (pulling in stomach, metal taste in mouth one morning) which I haven’t experienced since getting the negative tests. Surely I am not crazy and did not make these up in my head?! I have not bled at all, I am so confused as to what’s happening with my body. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this or can offer advise? I thought a false positive was very rare never mind having a few and the GP’s confirmation. How am I not pregnant now but I haven’t bled? Was I even pregnant in the first place? 🙁

Hi There Leoluca6158,

We're really sorry to hear what you're going through right now.

Unfortunately we're not able to offer an explanation for your test results but we wanted to bump your thread to see if we can get you some support and advice from other users.

All the best and we hope things turn out well for you.

@Leoluca6158 hi my lovely.

I'm so sorry to hear this, I had the same thing happen to me a couple of weeks ago.

Unfortunately I did have a miscarriage. Sometimes it happens so early it will just be like a period.

But yes, you would of been pregnant, it might just be very early loss.

Hope your okayThanks

I have had a similar experience but I was told it was a biochemical pregnancy. To be honest, I wasn't particularly happy with how the nurse told me this info. She said it with a big smile on her face which made me feel utterly stupid for being upset at my 'loss'.

I took 3 pregnancy tests just before and after my missed period which all came back positive. I also took one a week past on Friday which was positive. I was 5wk+5 on Tuesday when I started to bleed. I phoned early pregnancy who said I was too early to have a scan and that I had to wait until I'd passed the 6 week mark. So I had my scan yesterday morning which confirmed I had miscarried.

The sonographer was lovely and supportive. She also did a pregnancy test which also came back negative. She told me I'd miscarried.

The nurse who I saw afterwards, on the other hand, spoke to me with a big smirk on her face and seemed to take pleasure in telling me it had been a biochemical pregnancy, and that I had miscarried long before Tuesday. she made me feel so stupid for being upset. She then went on to suggest me and my partner made a memory box to help us process our loss!? Even though she's basically just told me it wasn't a real pregnancy. We left very quickly after that and I came home feeling numb. It's an awful feeling! Now I don't even know if I have the right to grieve my loss because of how she made me feel 🙈 xx
