In just over a year. Ttc #1. Trying to stay positive. Any success stories?

I know I’ll get referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic, can anyone share any experiences? Does the hospital refer me or do I need to request through my GP? Thanks for reading x

Hi, I got referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic after my 3rd missed miscarriage this was done by the miscarriage nurse at the epau, I waited about 5 weeks because we had genetic testing, intial appointment took history from me and my husband, ask about pregnancies you've had and what happened, ordered various blood tests and then few weeks later we had a appointment with the consultant who discussed the blood tests, for us there was no cause to be found, said it could be due to my age (38) environmental factors, did prescribe projesterone pessaries and high dose folic acid. Did say if I become pregnant again I can be booked into the pregnancy surveillance clinic where I'll have regular scans and be monitored more so that has helped a little though it will never fully take that anxiety away. Feel lucky that we have our little boy. Hope you are ok as much as you can be. Xx

Hey @Littlegoth. I had three miscarriages, we did genetic testing with no problems reported. It was difficult, gruelling both physically and mentally. I considered each one a personal failure (which didn't help). So I stopped trying for a while - at least a year; I couldn't face it and I wanted to give my body a rest. I lost a few stone and reduced my work stress. My DD is upstairs, 16 months old, and snoring like a demon. I'm so sorry for your losses. Thanks

Thank you both for sharing. I think I will take some comfort from the surveillance next time, and I’m the meantime definitely try to drop a few excess lbs. The EPU has referred me now so I’ll hopefully receive my appointment in due course x

That's ok, I'm taking the high dose folic acid and the conception vitamins, trying to eat more healthy. Hopefully you'll get your appointment through soon. X
