Miscarried twins four weeks apart?!

Hi everyone,
First post from me as I’m in a strange situation and am hoping someone can help? Four weeks ago, I was 5 weeks pregnant (for the first time) and I began bleeding which turned into a miscarriage. It was the most horrific experience and I ended up passing the fetal sac. Two weeks later, I ovulated and two weeks after that (four days ago), I got my period. It was a bit heavier than normal and lasted longer and yesterday I passed another fetal sac. Exactly the same, although a bit smaller. I am so confused and shocked as I don’t know what has happened. Has anyone experienced this before? My partner and I are having treatment (we are a same sex couple having IUI with donor sperm. I’ve had loads of tests and no complications or issues except my age. 40 next month. This was 5th attempt). Can anyone shed some light? Thank you so much in advance!

I'm sorry for your loss @Temagami. I miscarried in April and what I found was my first period after was very heavy and very similar to my miscarriage bleed, with similar but less intense cramps but lots of big clots. I know when I passed the sac during my miscarriage but didn't see it.

Did you get a negative test after the miscarriage, just wondering about retained tissue?

I’m so sorry for your loss. I agree with venus, get checked for retained tissue. I tested out my HCG after an ectopic and continued to have blood tests until it hit under 2. I would just double check.
