I’m going out of my mind. The last few weeks have been a complete nightmare. Apologies in advance for the essay!

About two weeks ago I got very clear positives from about 50 tests. Due to previous losses I was referred to the EPU, where I was scanned on Monday just gone (3rd) but the lady could only see an empty gestational sac so they said either I was just really early on or it was the beginning of the end. We are unsure as to when I would have ovulated as I had a chemical pregnancy in April. Between Monday and Wednesday I had light cramping and some spotting, but not enough to show up on a pad. I went for bloods again yesterday and my hcg levels had only risen by just over 100 so I was told that unfortunately the pregnancy was probably failing. From around 6pm last night I had some red spotting but again not enough to show up on a pad, which was accompanied by sharp cramps similar to period pains. This morning I woke up being sick around 4am, but today I have had no pains at all, I just feel very queasy. Also, the spotting has not gotten any worse, it is more like clear mucus with some bloody fibres which were red at first and are now brown (TMI, sorry) but I did see a small clot this morning when I wiped.

I just don’t know what to think and the EPU are being nothing short of useless. They have me back in for bloods tomorrow but I’m going crazy in the meantime and just want to know what is going on with me. At the moment I still ‘feel’ pregnant and I’ve not actually vomited so far until this morning, until now I’ve just had nausea.

Has anyone had a similar experience? I’ve accepted that this pregnancy is not going to be successful but I just don’t know what to do or what to think.

Thanks in advance x

I recently had a miscarriage back in May, I’m just a bit confused about my period, do I class my last period back in April? If so I’m 5 days later, and they only tend to last 5 days or do I count my miscarriage as my last period? If so my period isn't due until next week!
Any advice would be great 💜

@HVS1993 So sorry you are going through this. You say EPU are being useless. I hope that you have a follow up appointment with them. I've been in this situation three times under different EPUs each time but treatment has been broadly similar. The last two had me go in for serial HCG testing every 48 hours and I was rescanned after a week or so. The first time it was more conclusive that it was a miscarriage and not an ectopic so I only had my bloods tested twice. Unfortunately sometimes it can take two or three weeks for them to get a picture of what is happening as they want to avoid unnecessary or incorrect surgery or treatment. It really is a horrible time and you have my utmost sympathy. ThanksThanks

@Emilypatriciaxox No, for pregnancy dating you would count your last period as your first period after the miscarriage. Thanks

If they saw a sac and it wasn't in your tube then it's not ectopic - but the low rising hcg sadly does indicate a failing pregnancy - I would expect the bleeding etc to get worse in the next couple of days - maybe monitor with clearblue digital with weeks pregnancy tests - I did with my last miscarriage to make sure levels were going down and to see when they were close to zero
