Has anyone been to see Dr Regan in St Mary's for recurrent miscarriage? I've been for my 6 week follow up after D&C for my 4th miscarriage and the consultant suggested a referral to her. I'm just not sure if I should wait on the NHS or just take the plunge and go as a private patient. I don't even know what they would do?! Apologies for the rambling, just quite confused at the min

Sorry for your losses, I don't have any useful advice as I'm finding it all a bit confusing too. Do you mean go there as a private patient to reduce the waiting time? I contacted them directly and they said I would be eligible for a referral but that's as far as I've got. I did a bit of reading and it looks like different clinics offer tests for different things and I didn't really know where to start. Sorry not much help!

I've been to st Mary's both NHS and private. Not seen Lesley reagen, I was under Raj Rai.
Have you had any tests or medications yet?

faysieb can I ask how come you did both? I haven't had any tests at all as just going through my 4th miscarriage (2nd consecutive). Apparently my local recurrent miscarriage clinic only take referrals if you have 3 consecutive losses and I don't know if that includes ectopics. St Mary's said I would meet their criteria but I don't know what they do that my local one wouldn't do? And are there tests that your GP can do in the first instance?

Might be worth paying privately for a test for lupus.
I was told it's a cause of over 20% of mc but if you know you have it, it's easily treatable by daily injection

A friend had 3 mc then 2 healthy pregnancies after diagnosis/treatment

we got referred to St Mary's as private patients so we didn't have to wait - difference was a few weeks versus a few months wait. That was after 5 consecutive MNs and my local hospital (Kings) would do no more tests.

Thanks for all the replies! I have had the recurrent MC bloods done and they didn't show anything up so we are unexplained, I presume I will have these repeated and possibly some other tests done? I was reading up and I think st Mary's do some specific blood tests to check for clotting etc. I will see what my dr here suggests when I finally get to see them and go from there, I don't think there is much they will do for unexplained (as there isn't much they CAN do) so I might as well wait it out for the NHS referral over as opposed to paying privately. Has anyone else read her book on MC? It was a really informative read - if a bit depressing!

I had other tests done and also a scan of my womb. Can't remember much about it all now. They didn;t actually find anything wrong so I was prescribed progesterone. We had DD and that's all that mattered!

Aw amazing! I love hearing success stories. Did they give you the progesterone after ovulation or after positive pregnancy test?

after ovulation. I was using ovulation kits (very accurate for me, I would become pregnant immediately) so as soon as I ovulated up until 12 weeks I had a lovely progesterone suppository up my fanny.

It worked with DD, didn't work with 2 subsequent pregnancies, but I was 42 by then and also didn't do acupuncture, which I did with DD.

My mu told me that in her day it was usual for women to be prescribed progesterone.

I mean, usual in any pregnancy, not just with a history of MC.
