First signs of ectopic

I wonder if anyone who has had an ectopic could help me. Were there any warning signs early on it was going that way? I am 6 weeks now and since I found out I have had twinges/pulling feeling/occasional pain only on my right hand side and I’ve just convinced myself it is because it’ll be an ectopic. I had an mmc in March so am feeling very anxious anyway and I’m too scared to go to the gp yet but I’m sure I’m going to lose this one too. If anyone can offer advice I’d appreciate it

I haven't but did Google it when I was pregnant. It causes shoulder tip pain. I had an early scan at eight weeks to rule it out.

I had an ectopic 2 years ago, and didn't have any pain until after I'd had bleeding. I had pain on one side which radiated all down my leg and around my hip it was quite distinctive. They hadn't been able to locate the pregnancy on the scan I had to investigate the bleeding but never mentioned ectopic. I then felt a bit dizzy and generally unwell and kept googling ectopic symptoms, I just had a feeling. I had no shoulder tip pain, nor did my SIL even when her ectopic ruptured, so you don't always get that. I have also had pretty strong pains on one side with other pregnancies which weren't ectopic, probably just the side the egg has implanted. You know your own body so if you are worried at all do get checked out for your own peace of mind. At 6 weeks they can see if the pregnancy is in the right place.

Thank you Moomin. I think I will phone midwives today although last time they weren’t interested unless I started having heavy bleeding.

Would your GP be any more helpful? Or can you call your epu directly?

I didn't really have any symptoms other than a "feeling" that something wasn't right - my hcg was doubling perfectly etc and no pain to speak of

Mine was detected at 6 weeks when my hcg got to 3500 and the sac was found in my tube. I ruptured 5 days later even though I had methotrexate treatment - when it ruptured the pain was indescribable and nothing I'd felt before (and I've had 4 miscarriages)

Mine was 10 years ago, first sign was bleeding and one sided pain down one side that radiated to my thigh. Never had shoulder pain.

You also would have to go via a&e for a referral - my EPU didn't accept self referrals - since you're not really in pain I don't think they will put you as high priority as they can't offer reassurance scans to everyone and your chance of it being ectopic is really very very low

I had excruciating pain. I could barely talk. Felt horribly constipated and bloated for 3 days before that. Then lost lots of fluid like prune juice, rather than red blood.

Hopefully you and baby will be fine.

I didn't have any real pain. I made it to 8 weeks before I had emergency surgery. My HCG was doubling perfectly too.

What I did have was weird spotting. It was orangey red, watery and stopped/started for two weeks. I also remember having what I thought were gas pains/cramps. Felt like pressure in my rectum. Have since read that this is quite common.

I am sure you will be fine xxx

Thank you everyone. Sounds like it is different for everyone. I just booked myself in for a scan on Monday (paid for not nhs) so I will just wait and see what they can see. I am torn between blaming my anxiety for worrying but also genuinely thinking I know my body and know something is not right. Fingers crossed I am wrong. X

Thank you everyone for advice. Everything is okay baby is measuring exactly right and we saw the heartbeat flickering. Anxiety and hormones can send you mad!
