Collection of tissue for testing

Hi all. Sadly going through my third miscarriage and they have offered testing on the tissue. Should be 10 weeks but scan showing embryo had never developed and empty sac sized around six weeks

I had the medical management yesterday and started bleeding last night, passing little bits of grey tissue. My first question is - I have only managed to gather a little bit of this tissue as haven’t seen anything obvious which could be the sac - does anyone have any experience on how much tissue they need to do the testing?

My second question is - I had lots of bleeding and small bits of grey tissue but nothing resembling the sac. Does anyone have experience on this? Just don’t know if it’s over or not.

Thanks and sending big hugs to everyone else for their losses x

I’m so sorry for your loss and that you are going through this for the third time. It’s just heart breaking.

I had my fourth miscarriage last week and collected tissue for testing. I was also around 6 weeks. The tissue I took was quite very small and grey. It was attached to a clot/jelly type material, which could have been the sac but it wasn’t obvious. I think maybe just collect as much as you can. Luckily my miscarriage happened before our second scan at the EPU so they were able to confirm that most of the foetus had come away so I presume it was what I had collected.

Sorry that doesn’t really answer your question. Maybe just collect as much as you can? Again so sorry you are having to go through this. I found having to collect the tissue quite traumatic on top of what is an awful time.

Wishing you all the best
