I had a d&c 9 weeks ago and tissue was sent off for testing as the consultant thinks our baby had some chromosomal abnormality. I was just wondering if anybody could tell me if they know roughly how long the results take to come back? I had it done on the nhs. And if they donโ€™t find anything will they tell me or just not contact? I feel so lost still and I find myself going crazy thinking about how and why it happened :(

Hi Polly,

I'm sorry to hear what you've been through and glad that the NHS is doing testing for you.

NHS came back to me after a month but I was initially told that I would not hear back the results until I see the recurrent miscarriage clinic consultant. I wasn't convinced by the nurse at the time as she was unsure about EVERYTHING. So I called them just before a month and they said it will take six to eight weeks for anyone to contact me. NHS then called after a month but not sure whether it's because they called as they never caught the baby and was only concerned that it was still inside.

I'm sorry it's not much help but wanted to say I'm really sorry that you're going through this.

Thank you so much ๐Ÿ’›

I was surprised when they offered testing as it was my first mc, I think because the baby had some signs of abnormality on my 12 week scan he wanted to check for genetics too.

I didnโ€™t get much info about it to be honest, I think he said I would probably get a call or a letter but most likely a letter but never said anything about times :( All of the other staff had no clue, one doctor at my pre-op had me down as having a termination and when I turned up for surgery theyโ€™d not even had me on the list so I think my hospital in that department is a bit funny :(

Hi Polly

So sorry for your loss. And sorry that itโ€™s been made harder by the lack of information and so much disorganisation ๐Ÿ˜ž

I just had my fourth miscarriage and they said it could take up to 3 months for the tissue testing results to come back. Such a long time ๐Ÿ˜’ I was told to ring in 2 months time to book the blood tests and an appointment with the recurrent miscarriage team, where they would discuss all the results.

Hope you get your results soon. And wishing you all the best, itโ€™s such a tough road.
