How much more bleeding?

I really need some advice. I had a miscarriage almost 4 weeks ago. I was 8 weeks pregnant. When I was scanned I was told that I had expelled all of the pregnancy tissue, but I am still bleeding almost 4 weeks later. It’s bright red blood and heavy. I have called the hospital this week and they have said unless I have a fever and feel very unwell they wouldn’t see me. I just want to know whether it’s normal to be bleeding for so long? The lady at the hospital said I could ask my GP for some medication to stop the bleeding but I would prefer not to do that. And yet, I can’t keep on with so much bleeding; I’m exhausted.

Has this happened to anyone else? I just want the bleeding to stop - it’s a constant reminder of what we have lost.

Thank you for reading xx

I would goto your GP. I miscarried last week at 6w and was told the bleeding should be over in 2-3 weeks.

If you have been bleeding for such a long time, heavily you might need some iron supplements, especially as you are feeling tired.

Phone the GP and explain, I'm sure they would get you in to be seen quickly. Make sure you mention the bleeding being heavy and you feeling exhausted. That should ring some bells for them.

I really feel for you, it's such a horrible time, we just need our bodies to get back to normal so we can move on. I started bleeding at 11 weeks, had a scan which showed the baby had stopped growing at about 7 weeks. I had SMM just over 3 weeks ago, I'm still bleeding on and off, some days not much at all, some days heavier. I did a preg test today which was positive. Called EPU who said do another test in a week and bleeding can last 3-4 weeks. I agree with pinkoi though, I think you should see your gp as it's so heavy. I feel like the EPU fobbed me off today but at least I'm not constantly bleeding heavily. Just need this to be over!
