MMC, growth stopped at 5w

Currently at what should be 8+2 but nothing has happened yet. We found out on Saturday that growth had stopped at 5 weeks, had a scan last week and they said go back this week, and it was confirmed. They told me to ring the EPU today so I'm about to ring them in a bit.

I've spoken to work and said I don't know what's going to happen and I might need a few days off so they said I can work from home when I need to so I don't lose any hours (self employed contractor)

What can I expect though? I'll buy some maternity pads this evening.

I'm sorry this has happened @Eliza9919. I had almost exactly the same experience. I did miscarry naturally at 9+4. It started with light brown bleeding then got to heavier clots. About 2 days later I started getting red blood then in the early hours started cramping which were fairly intense. I started passing larger clots. I generally just lay down and went to the toilet when the contraction-like cramping was happening. The bleeding was heavy and the pain manageable with a heat pad and pain killers. I did wake up in the early hours a few days later with cramps and passed more tissue.

I'm not sure if my experience is typical but I managed with my usual sanitary pads. All in I was bleeding for around 9-11 days but only around 5 were significant blood loss.

Take care and get some rest Flowers

Thanks. I'm sorry for you too Flowers and for everyone here, this is shit.

I'm so sorry to hear this, it's a horrible thing to happen. I had a MMC a couple of years ago and didn't miscarry naturally after waiting for a couple of weeks. I opted for a D&C which was straightforward and pretty painless. The waiting was getting too much for me and I don't regret not going down the medical route at all.
I hope you're doing ok

Eliza9919 · 21/05/2019 13:22

Thank you @Thattwatoverthere

And in the next instalment of cruelty, you have to go in the maternity and baby section to buy maternity pads Hmm to sit and wait for the bleeding to start.

I got through to the EPU at lunch and they are ringing me back to tell me what happens next. Tbh, I normally prefer to do things naturally etc but if they ask me if I want the procedure I'll have it, to get this over with.

We went to the epu for a scan to confirm MC and get the tablets to bring on bleeding, but the scan showed a fetal pole this week. It's 4.5mm and measuring at 6 weeks, but it's still growing!

We have to go back next week for another scan to see what it's doing.

Sorry you're still in limbo @Eliza9919, good news there's been some growth. Fingers crossed for your next scan 🤞

Just updating the thread because I hate it when I read one and there's no outcome.

So after the scan mentioned above, we had to go back a week later (last Saturday) and there was no further growth.

We just got back from the hospital today (Monday after that last scan) where they did another scan just to confirm everything and the sac has started to shrink and change shape. No more growth so it's all confirmed for definite now. They are going to call me back later with a date to go in for the surgical management but that will probably be over a week until I can go in. There was a little bit of pink on the tissue after I wiped after the scan so things may be starting to happen on their own.

I'm really sorry to hear that @Eliza9919 Flowers also sorry you've got more waiting. Hopefully things do progress for you.

Hope you can rest, take care x

Eliza9919 · 03/06/2019 14:47

Thank you. I think it's starting by itself. More, definite, pink on the tissue when I just went to the toilet.

I’m so very sorry x

I was booked on for a d&c today but the complete sac passed on its own this morning.

I've got it and we are going to bury it and say a little prayer.
