Surgical management - a positive experience

I am at home in bed following a D&C this morning.

It is my third miscarriage (at 12 weeks, 6 weeks and now this one at 8 weeks) but my first surgical management and I just wanted to share what an overwhelmingly more positive experience it was, for me, than the natural management I had gone through twice before.

I was absolutely terrified last night and this morning (never had a general anaesthetic before) but it could not have been calmer, nor could I have asked for a more caring attitude from all staff.

Compared to the weeks of waiting, ongoing bleeding, hormonal fluctuations and pain that a natural course can entail it is, so far, chalk and cheese.

Mentally, I already feel there has been more ‘closure’ here, and I am a complete wimp about hospitals and operations.

Just wanted to post in case it helps someone else making this type of awful decision.
