Did I have a miscarriage?

Hi all,

I didn't know I was pregnant but I had unprotected sex 7 weeks ago and hadn't had a period since (just spotting for a couple of hours about a month after). I woke up 2 days ago with blood everywhere in the sheets (it had gone through my underwear, pyjama trousers and sheets) which is a lot heavier than my normal periods. I had really bad back pain and stomach cramps which were coming in waves but were so severe I was unable to stand with them. I also was very nauseous and felt really faint. Then yesterday I passed tissue which was about 3cm in length and solid but also goo-like. It looked very similar to if you google images of fetal tissue but I didn't get a picture of it. Another smaller piece came out a couple of hours later. It didn't look like any clot I've ever had before. Today the pain has still been bad but definitely better and the bleeding has become lighter. I've been very nauseous though and feeling very weak as if I've had the flu or something.

Does this sound like it could have been a miscarriage?

Thanks for any help in advance - it'll be much appreciate :)

Sorry OP it does sound like a miscarriage sadly - I would take a pregnancy test in a couple of days and if it's still positive go to see a doctor in case you have any retained tissue x

Thank you for replying. That's as I feared. Would you advise going to the doctors now or only going if the test comes back positive since I wasn't aware I was pregnant in the first place?

It does sound possible that it was a miscarriage, I'm sorry. I miscarried a couple of weeks ago and my tests were still positive. Yesterday's was so faint that I'm confident my levels have dropped. I think it's normal to still get positives after. Your GP may either do bloods or refer you to the early pregnancy unit if they're concerned about retained tissue. Take care
