How heavy is a miscarriage at 4 weeks?

I have a coil in place, for the last week I've been experiencing abdominal pain, bleeding etc (thought it was my period) but have done a clear blue test and I am 1-2 (so 3-4 weeks pregnant) I have a Drs apt this pm as obviously the biggest concern is ectopic, especially as I'm having pain on one side. However, as my clear blue test is only saying 1-2 weeks when it should say 2-3 or 3-4 I'm wondering if I've actually miscarried (explaining why my hcg levels are lower than they should be) can early miscarriages just feel like normal periods? I've never miscarried before. I don't know why this will help me, I guess I'm just nervous if it is ectopic.

An early miscarriage at 4-5 weeks will most probably be like a slightly heavier period with a few more cramps than you usually get

An ectopic they will struggle to diagnose until around 6 weeks as difficult to see anything on an ultrasound until then

I've had both x

Thank you, sat in the hospital now, EPU told me to come in. This is why I'm confused as it wasn't a heavy period, but heavy enough, wasn't usual cramping, although it lasted longer than usual. I've been getting odd pains, pain to the left. I wonder what they'll do if they can't see anything this week. I want to know where my bloody coil is! Sorry you've gone through both x
