I’m probably very late for this.. but couldn’t find a post on it

www.imperial.ac.uk/news/189690/recurrent-miscarriage-linked-faulty-sperm/

I can’t believe how many times I suspected it’s damaged sperm, told the consultant that since they found no problem in me that they need to check my husband as he was having medication that affects the sperm.. I’m a scientist and that made perfect sense to me ..

I always got the response “since you conceived the problem lies with you”.

I feel a mixture of anger at how obvious things could’ve been dismissed like that... but also releived because I feel many women now could have hope. And some pressure and guilt off their shoulders..

I've had the same response too - recurring miscarriages and because we had one successful pregnancy out of 6 they said the problem must lie with me - just gone through ivf though and 80% of our embryos stopped developing after day 3 which is an indicator of an issue with sperm.... really frustrated that the NHS focuses on the woman and not man in these situations - we re now paying for private tests

I wannabe!!!! I’m so sorry to hear that!

So even with this new evidence are you not able to get the focus shifted onto your husband under the NHS?

Gosh that makes my blood boil.

@ILoveHumanity
Thanks! Unfortunate no - I've asked several times at the NHS recurrent miscarriage clinic to test husband but things like sperm fragmentation tests I don't think are available on NHS anyway x

I might be ignorant but I genuinely think it should be on the NHS now that it’s declared as one of the reasons for recurrent miscarriage. Surely it saves them money to tackle the main cause as opposed to beat around the bush.

Wish u all the best.
