I’m so confused about ovulation after mmc!

We found out at 12 week scan that baby had stopped developing at 9wks4 days & while waiting to go for D&C I had a miscarriage naturally on 28th Jan.

Bleeding stopped last week completely so I done a pregnancy test yesterday as it’s been almost 3 weeks, the test had the faintest line ever on it (which I was a bit disappointed with tbh as really wanted a BFN for once) but this morning I had EWCM exactly same as what I normally have coming up to ovulation!

I’m so confused, am I going to ovulate or is this my body just being weird after everything that happened?! My hubby & I dtd Friday & yesterday morning as I finally felt up to it but now I’m wondering if we shouldn’t have or a small part of my brain is saying I should try now!! Midwife advised me to wait until after 1st period to try again but now I feel reckless & selfish incase I get pregnant & have another miscarriage!

Hi Pearlg - I'm so sorry for your loss, I lost my first pregnancy about the same time you did and its so painful. I hope you are getting all the support you need.

I've heard that the hormones that the two tests pick up are quite similar so can sometimes be detected - I think its more the ovulation tests can get crosswired with the pregnancy hormone not the other way around (i'm not a dr at all and might have that wrong).

The reason they say (apparently) to wait for your first period is to help with dating for when you do fall pregs again - so there is no confusion about how far along you are or should be.

Hope that helps, sending hugs xx

Betterbehomesoon thank you so much for your lovely reply & yes it did help. Only my best friend & HR lady in work know about my miscarriage so it’s nice to get help & support on here.

I’m so sorry to hear you have had a similar experience recently with your 1st pregnancy too, my heart goes out to you it really is so painful trying to come to terms with everything. I hope you are too are getting all the help you need.

I’d settled myself down a bit since Sunday when I was really stressing about ovulation then yesterday I felt like AF was on the way but today I’m feeling back to normal again! So confusing, I think you are right about the hormones being similar on the tests, I was going to wait until Monday & do another test again as it will have been 4 weeks then.

Sending you back hugs xx
