MMC and pregnancy symptoms

Hi,
I’ve had a MMC, 12 week scan on Thursday showed no growth after 7w5d. I’m having the surgical option (not under general anaesthetic) on Monday which I’ve been reading about, but can’t find out much about when to expect all the pregnancy symptoms to go away. Can anyone advise?

I’ve been feeling really nauseous, especially in the evenings, tired, sore boobs and have had to go up a bra size. Oh and none of my trousers fit. I’d been looking forward to moving into maternity clothes really! So I just wondered how long it takes before all those things settle back to normal again? Ive has two miscarriages before but they happened spontaneously and I’d already started feeling ‘less pregnant’ before they started. I’ve also got two children who are keeping me busy while all this goes on.

Hi SwallowInSpring. It can take a while, thats the awful thing about a missed miscarriage, your body doesn't know yet. My situation was also exact to yours, I had the op and it was a couple of weeks before I had a negative test and my body stopped feeling pregnant but it happens gradually but it does happen (though my boobs are still half a size bigger now!). Unfortunate it probably wont start to happen until the op. Sending you lots of love and support, hope you are getting lots of kiddie cuddles from your DC xx

Its a shit journey but you'll get there. I get feeling cheated by your body, I so felt the same way - so disappointed and angry. Its an awfully sad situation to be in - but you aren't alone, we are all here for you. You will start to feel normal soon and in time you'll also laugh and mean it but be kind to yourself and DP through the healing xx

Hi, I'm truly sorry for your loss. What you're going through is a traumatic experience and I hope you have support.

It took me three months to feel like I went back to normal. I bled a lot after the operation, had contractions. Then I slowly started deflating in the boobs and tummy areas. Also my hormones made me very angry and anxious. They called down after three months.

Hi Dreyldn, thank you. I’m sorry for your loss as well. Wow, three months. I am a bit worried about the hormones; I tend to be quite affected by them usually and so far I feel fairly resilient about what is happening (and I do have a lot of very good support), but I think that as my hormone levels alter that might change quite dramatically! We’ll see. Because of the way it’s happened this time, I’ve had to tell more people eg work, but hopefully that will work well with people being nice to me. Ugh, I’m starting to dread Monday..!

Yes, it's a hard moment to go through but it will pass. Good luck for tomorrow

My tummy went back to it's normal size as soon as I passed the embryo and pregnancy tissue. My boob tenderness/size and other pregnancy symptoms gradually subsided over a much longer time period (a couple of months).

I'm so sorry for your loss. I had similar last April and it was an awful time. After the op my pregnancy symptoms disappeared fairly quickly. I got a negative test about a fortnight after. Hormonally, took a lot longer. I still get a bit sad when I think about it no but for the first few months after it happened I was often very angry and upset about it all. Lots of love to you.
