Early pregnancy loss 5 weeks?

I think I’m eacperiencing a miscarriage / early pregnancy loss. Has anyone been through this?

Started off as a light brown discharge two days ago, then proceeded to include a small amount of blood when wiping, and now is a dark colour, almost black! Much less than a normal period, but still pretty concerning. No pain however.
As it was Christmas yesterday and Boxing Day today the early pregnancy clinic is not open.

Has anyone had experience with this?

I could upload some pics but can’t see the option to do this?

I went through a miscarriage at 5 weeks and I had experienced what I could only describe as a period on steroids. Really bad cramps and very heavy red bleeding that lasted about ten days. I also took a pregnancy test to check if my hcg levels had dropped. I didn't have access to an EPU. I really hope you are just experiencing some bleeding and your pregnancy is still viable. It is very common to have bleeding early on. Hope that helps

Thanks so much for your feedback. The EPU is closed today, I’m not sure if it’s worth going to A & E or just letting my body go through this?

I have had this twice @Holly2202. Once the bleeding got worse and still ended up with DD who is now 5 and playing happily with Christmas presents. Once ended up with a mc.

EPU can scan but there isn't anything they can 'do' to influence the outcome as far as I have seen from my frequent visits there so it ends up just being a waiting game.

Definitely not worth going to A&E unless bleeding very very bad. There is nothing they can do unfortunately and often don't even have access to the scanning equipment.

Thank you everyone.

Just an update that I’ve been to the EPU and had tests done and I’m currently going through a miscarriage :(

Chemical pregnancies are a sick trick of nature ime.
Try not op give it too much significance as ttc needs nerves of steel.

Im sorry @Holly2202 even being only five weeks it's still a big thing to deal with. Look after yourself!

Holly2202 · 27/12/2018 19:58

Turned out I was a few weeks further than 5 weeks, but it’s still hit me a bit harder than I would have thought it would. I can handle it this time, not sure if I could cope with it a second time. You’re right, ttc takes nerves of steel!

So sorry @Holly2202

I found the advice from Tommy's and from the Miscarriage Association helpful in terms of dealing with truths and myths of coping with mc.

There are some helpful support threads on the Conception board also.

Hi Ladies. I meant to be 4 w6d pregnant and started spotting on boxing day at 4w3d mainly pinkish smears of blood when wiping. On the 27th i had 1 occasion when i went to the loo and had a slightly thick amount of period like blood flow, and have since had a fair amount of more watery bright red blood mostly when going to the toilet and not much at all in my pantyliner. Went to the dr on 27th after this happened and she just told me i was having a miscarriage, but no tests or examinations. But im a little confused as i had a miscarriage 3 months ago and it was excruciatingly painful and VERY HEAVY, passing lots of clots etc. Granted i was a few weeks further on, but i would have expected to pass something before the bleeding started to reduce (which it has started to do now)? On that note holly2202 i actually am coping with my second potential MC better than i did my first. I was absolutely broken for weeks after that, but thus time its as though i was just waiting for it so already prepared. (Everyone is different though)
Anyhow, I have scrolled the internet and all the medical websites talk about is spotting, which is natural OR heavy bleeding and clots which is likely miscarriage! Nothing on moderate watery bleeding without any clots and only mild cramps?? Anyone got any suggestions what i should do? If i take a pg test now will it be accurate? I know im too early for a scan but i dont know whether i have lost my baby or not and its a really awful limbo to be in...

Very sorry you are going through this @Verity89

My mc was as you describe- no clotting or anything 'significant'. I expected worse from internet trawling
