Miscarriage - GP or sit it out?

Hello,
I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks a few months ago. Am pregnant again - 5 weeks. Had light pink discharge (tmi - apologies) for the last two days and cramping.
No cramping today, but definite blood. Not lots, but the colour is red enough to look like not good news.
Last time I miscarried it was very heavy straight away, clots and painful. This feels different, but I don't want to get my hopes up as blood is never a great sign.
Is there much point in going to the GP? Will they do a blood test? Or should I just sit it out?
Sorry for asking what may be a really obvious question. Am on my own and struggling to see what to do.
Thanks

Hi, have you tried calling your early pregnancy unit? I found out about my MC in a scan but I think if I saw blood after a MC I'd call a health professional just to be sure. I've read about lots of ladies who have had blood and its perfectly normal so chances are you will be too :) Fingers crossed for you, hope it is just one of those things and you get your rainbow baby xx

Thanks so much for replying herethereandnow - really appreciate it.

Sadly bleeding is now much heavier and cramps v painful so pretty sure it's another MC. Scan tomorrow at the early pregnancy unit so I'm guessing they'll confirm then.

Am really lucky - have wonderful DS who's 3 but I feel so sad. Thanks again X
