I am 7 weeks pregnant, had brown blood but only on wiping since Saturday and just now went for a wee and some pink blood came out. Not in any pain apart from a dull bloating feeling. Is this the start of a miscarriage? Baby number 3 and did bleed with previous 2 but I can’t remember the details.

Ring your hospital x

Honestly, it could be nothing or it could be something. I’ve had this and it wasn’t good news, but I know others who had had it and everything has been fine.

Can you call your EPU in the morning?

L2018 · 19/11/2018 22:11

Hi,

My miscarriages started like that. Every time I rung Somone for medical helf they told me it was normal, although it wasn’t I did miscarry. My big giveaway was back ace.

I hope it isn’t. Good luck, sending lots of love. Xxxx

TheRealHousewifeofCheshire · 19/11/2018 22:11

Please dont wait till morning. Call now x

BifsWif · 19/11/2018 22:13

Call who?

Unfortunately, unless he OP goes to A&E nobody will be able to help or arrange a scan until the morning. It’s sad, but I’ve had recurring miscarriages and there really is an attitude of ‘wait and see’.

jdr1234 · 19/11/2018 22:15

Thanks all, as the above says there is nothing I can do till tomorrow I just wondered if this is how miscarriages start or does the bleeding ramp up fairly quickly. I was assuming cos it was brown blood was just old and therefore ok 😞

It could well be just old blood, and bleeding doesn’t always mean the worst.

Keeping everything crossed for you x

LovesLaboursLost · 19/11/2018 22:16

Unfortunately there’s no point in calling anyone, your best hope is EPAU in the morning. It could be anything or nothing. I’ve had a miscarriage with similar bleeding and a successful pregnancy with similar bleeding. Try your best to sleep tonight and try for a scan in the morning.

jdr1234 · 19/11/2018 22:21

Thank you all, no blood on wiping now, if it is a miscarriage will the bleeding increase or could it just be this spotting on wiping?

If you're worried please please call your hospital. Most have a maternity triage number you can ring 24/7. Please dont wait until morning if you are worried x

Last year I miscarried and started with spotting and blood on wiping and progressively to requiring a pad but not really filling them. 2 days later bleeding got very heavy suddenly and lost the baby within 30 minutes at 12 weeks.

This year I'm pregnant again and started spotting and blood on wiping and quickly needed a pad. I was 7 weeks managed to get a scan the next day and there was baby with heartbeat and evidence of an implantation bleed. I'm due on Wednesday.

So for me it felt like history repeating itself, same symptoms both times different outcome.

TokyoSushi · 19/11/2018 22:45

I've had one pregnancy with 4 episodes of bleeding and went on to have healthy DS and one miscarriage and one DD but she was completely fine the main difference was not the bleeding but the pain. There was no pain at all with DS, but quite a lot of bleeding, 4 times, unexplained and never did find out what it was. With my miscarriage the bleeding was similar, but so painful, like being in labour, really awful.

Thanks for you, really hope you're ok.

AvoidingMarking · 19/11/2018 22:46

If it is a miscarriage the bleeding will increase but it might take a few days. With mine I started bleeding on the Saturday- pink when I wiped. Then on the Monday i used a pad and on the Tuesday it was a lot of blood (sat in the bath/on toilet for a few hours) and cramping.

Friends have had bleeding in pregnancy and not had a miscarriage so it might not be. Please call EPU tomorrow so they can get you in for an early scan. It's really scary and horrible either way. X

jdr1234 · 20/11/2018 06:07

Thank you all. I will call them first thing and hopefully get a scan. No more bleeding so fingers crossed, forgot how stressful this stage of pregnancy is 😞

Going to buck the trend here and say I had pretty substantial bleeding and very bad pain (backache mainly, but some uterine cramps) and baby was fine. Bleeding was off and on til 20 weeks. This was my second pregnancy, in my first indidnt have any bleeding at all. Truth is, you can’t know without a scan. Round here you can self refer to EPU, if you can do that where you are, I would go down there ASAP. Hope it is all well.

Talith · 20/11/2018 06:22

The bleeding and cramps increases until it's essentially a very heavy period. You'll probably know if you have miscarried if the pain stops suddenly and you check what you've passed. Sorry if TMI. It's horrible and I'm hoping things settle for you and you can get an early scan. Tbh they don't do much for MC unfortunately which is horrid too. Sending Flowers and hoping for the best.

jdr1234 · 20/11/2018 06:27

Thank you. No pain. And only intermittent spotting on wiping since Saturday, hasn’t increased not enough to make it to pad was just the pink blood that alarmed me last night but again it was only when I did a wee. Will keep everyone posted, really appreciate all the advice/reassurance

jdr1234 · 20/11/2018 14:45

Thank you- just an update, been for scan and is an empty sac measuring 6.5 weeks so looks like the pregnancy isn’t developing and I will prob pass it as some point soon although is still a 20% chance will be ok but doesn’t look hopeful xx
