2 miscarriages - private testing at Lister Clinic?

Hi Ladies

After 5 years TTC we finally fell pregnant (naturally) earlier this year but lost the baby at 12 weeks, absolutely devastated. Somehow I got pregnant again on my 3rd cycle since the mc but sadly had an early mc last weekend, again just in bits.

The NHS won't refer to rmc until 3 consecutive mc's but at 38 I cannot wait for this to happen again if we're lucky enough to conceive again. I'm someone who needs answers. We've had all the standard NHS fertility tests and all came back as within normal range and apparently my uterus is normal shape and size.

I've been looking into private testing for things like NK cells etc. and found the Lister Clinic online. Has anyone had any experience of them and can provide me with some reviews?

TIA

Hi I Dreamland, so sorry for your losses, absolutely devastating. Not sure if this will help or not but according to St Mary's mc clinic, if you are over 35 with 2 consecutive mc's you can be referred to them. Have a look at their recurrent mc guidance and perhaps go armed to your gp with this? I myself am in a very similar boat, however am still awaiting results from my recent 16wk mc. If I get no answers, will be seeking a referral myself.
Wishing you lots of luck.

I'm so sorry to read of your losses.

They are mean not referring you, especially given that it took 5 years to conceive. I would def do it privately, they may have
suggestions. Some immune treatments such as intralipids lack evidence in the eyes of many clinics, although some people swear by them. Others such as blood thinners and aspirin are more mainstream.

From my research, the maid cause of miscarriage and repeat miscarriage is random chromosomal errors in the embryo. Even after 3-4 miscarriages the odds are on your side of a successful pregnancy the next time. It's a horribly frustrating place to be but there is plenty of hope and it's a good sign that you can get pregnant. All the very best of luck!

@cwalsh2002 thank you, I'll check it out. Sorry for your recent loss and that you find yourself here too. Hope you get the support you need and that your next pregnancy is textbook and you have a lovely baby to hold and take home.

@talkwhilstyouwalk, thank you. I'm just not feeling positive about anything at the moment. Just wish things would work out.

The Lister were amazing when I had a MMC - they did my EPRC. However, I think St Mary’s actually specialise in recurrent miscarriage - there is (or was) a Dr there called Lesley Regan who is one of the experts on this. If you wanted to see someone privately, she would be my first choice. Good luck Flowers

@HelloViroids thank you for your advice. I'll look into that too.

Goodness I feel so lost.
