I had a miscarriage 4 weeks ago and I done a pregnancy test last week and it was positive I done another one today and it's still positive very faint but still a clear positive, I've had no period since my miscarriage, I've had unprotected sex 3 times since and done a ovulation test which was a strong positive(don't think I'm pregnant now tho as only had sex 2 weeks ago) why am I still having positive tests?

Forgot to add 4 weeks ago my hcg levels were only at 1200 so surely in a month they shouldn't be showing up on a test?

It can take longer than that to drop depends how far on you were too. When I had a mc it took 6 weeks for a negative but I think I was advised if I was testing positive after 3 weeks let them know as they may want to scan you for retained products. Hope you are ok sorry you went through that xx

@xJune88 I had a scan 2 weeks after and they said I was clear, I phoned the early pregnancy unit and they said test in a week and get back to them because I've had unprotected sex but I don't understand why they would say that because I can't be pregnant again when I only had sex 2 weeks ago

I'd be asking them to repeat bloods and then follow up so you can see if there dropping or going up (new pregnancy) you could be pregnant again if you had sex 2 weeks ago. Hope they give you an answer x

@xJune88 thank you so much for replying to this thread, I'm only 22 and my miscarriage was my first pregnancy I haven't no experience and feel so so alone so got nobody to ask these questions to, can I ask you one last question? If I was pregnant again (2 weeks) would my hcg levels have to be to back to 0 for that to happen or would they just continue to grow from the left over hormones?(if you understand what I mean) xx

Totally understand you! I'm 24 and have had 2 miscarriages this year currently 13+4 but not having it easy bleeding all the time as I have a extra chrononic hemorrage attached to sac which is making me nuts. I think your hcg levels would have to of dropped to 5 or under for you to ovulate but I have no idea if I'm been honest. Could be miscarriage could be new pregnancy, alot of women get pregnant without a period inbetween. Fingers crossed for you xx
