Hormone levels after miscarriage

It has been a month since I had an mc but I have took a pregnancy test which has shown up positive, does anybody know how I know if this is a new pregnancy or if my hormone levels are still up from my mc. Any advise is greatly appreciated as I don't want to get excited until I know for certain, I am 17 so I don't have a clue about any of this. Please help.

Did you ever get a negative? If you’d tested negative and now positive then I’d say new pregnancy.

Otherwise, it could be residual HCG from the previous pregnancy, particularly if you’ve not had a scan to confirm all has passed.

I didn’t test negative until 7 weeks but I had retained tissue at week 4.

You could ask for a blood HCG from your GP. They will do it twice, 48 hours in between to see if it’s rising.

Thank you for your advice, I tested 5 days ago and it was a negative but I had something in the back of my head telling me to test again, I will go and see my gp as soon as I can get there x
