Weight gain after mc

Hi, I sadly miscarried my first pregnancy about 6 weeks ago. I had the op with no complications and emotionally healing OK (still struggle around pregnant friends but getting easier).

In the grand scheme of things this feels trivial but wanted to see if anyone is having the same issue. The Dr advised me to get my BMI down which I'm up for and have made efforts to cut out the bad food and have upped my workouts. I eat less and exercise more now than pre pregnancy. But I've gained 5kgs since the op and I can't seem to stop the gain. I've looked a bit into it and it seems to be common but not sure why.

Has anyone had similar experiences? Did you speak to your gp about it? Did you try anything that helped?

Sorry for your lossThanks
I opted for expectant management at 9 weeks and it has been a month so far, I have also been gaining a lot of weight, in my belly and my breasts, I am 17 so I have absolutely no clue what is going on, I am going to speak to my gp on Monday to see if it's normal or not but my belly is growing as though I am still pregnant, I'm sorry I don't have any advise for you, I will update you with what my gp says on Monday x

Sorry I completely forgot to reply, I went to the doctors and the nurse took some blood to do tests to see if my hormones were back to normal and it showed that they were still slowly decreasing, the doctor said that hopefully the weight gain should stop once my hormone levels go down. I have just had my first period since my mc and I feel like it has helped a lot, I have had clots and I feel so much lighter after this period so hopefully the weight gain should stop soon and if not I will go back again x

thanks so much for your reply and no apologies needed - I know how busy we can all be, i was just so interested to see what the dr said :) thats great news your hormones are settling down and your first period will help get your body back on track. And thats really good to know the weight is likely to normalise with the hormones - I seem to have stopped gaining and feel less puffy - I'm about 2 months after my MC so it seems to take some time eh. Please you are got some answers and hopefully feeling better about things xx

It's been 6 weeks since my mc so hopefully my weight gain will disappear soon, I have only lost 3lb in the past 6 weeks but I feel like I keep putting weight on. Just wondering how long your period was, not the one straight after your mc but the next one as mine seems to be never stopping or even giving any signs of slowing down x

I'm still heavier now than when I was pregnant but have lots a few kgs/lbs since the mc. I've just finished my second period - I think I'm a bit lucky - I had the op and my body recovered pretty quickly (so much faster than my heart). I had my first period after the op was pretty painful but my second felt really normal and on time. I think I'm ovulating ok too. So physically i'm back to normal hopefully (we are starting to try again soon so fingers crossed!).

That's not good your period isn't stopping - I assume thats not normal for you? I've read about lots of ladies who have had nightmare periods after their MC, so its probably really normal. Esp after a natural MC, your body will be settling down with the hormones. If you get worried have a chat with your gp (some do phone consultations which can be really handy). I hope you are doing ok and its not too disruptive for you xx keep in touch x

Thank you, before my mc my periods were really light and would only last about 4 days but now I'm on day 8 which is why it feels like it's been forever, just hoping it settles down x
