Hi
I had a D & C 5 weeks ago nearly and the results have come back "normal" whatever that means. Does that mean the chromosome were normal? Does anyone else know what normal is supposed to be when this happen?!

"Histology normal no abnormalities"
Does this mean with chromosomes or? It's a bit vague

I would imagine so. I had triploidy picked up after a d&c which is a chromosone problem.

lynzw · 16/10/2018 13:51

Yeah I'm assuming there was no chromosome problem then but leaves you wondering what it was I know I'll never know but doesn't help

Was it a miscarraige you had? How many weeks were you? Sometimes sadly itnjust happens. Doesn't make it any easier for you but even if you do know what it was it doesnt necessarily mean it would happen again or that you couldn't have a different problem. I speak from experience.

But - i am currently 25wks pregnant after doing nothing particularly different to the last three times. It really is just down to bad luck sometimes i'm afraid.

So sorry for your loss Flowers

Yes it was a silent miscarriage. Yes completely agree just thought they may say a little more. Thank you and it's nice to hear you are pregnant now after going though it yourself. How long after did you try again if you don't mind me asking?

My first mmc we started trying after first af and got pregnant straight away. Sadly that ended in stillbirth. I then took about a 12 month break due to grief more than anything. Next pregnancy was a second trimester mmc which was the triploidy one. Again i took around a 12 month break after that simply because i was sick of being pregnant tbh. Then that brings us to this one which touch wood is going great so far.

lynzw · 16/10/2018 17:52

Oh how awful I'm sorry to hear that. Did they find out any reason either times or give an indication?

1st mmc didnt get tested.
Stillbirth son had a condition called PFFD wouldnt usually cause a baby to die but his case was quite severe. Post mortem found no cause of death. 1:10,000 chance of pffd. Not genetic or herditary.
2nd trimester mmc was triploidy. Babys with triploidy never survive so her heartbeat would have always stopped at some point i was lucky it stopped when it did really. Again about 1:10,000 chance. Not genetic or hereditary.

Literally just very very bad luck.

Oh so sorry to hear can't imagine. Sending lots of positive vibes for this pregnancy let me know how all goes. I think we will start trying again as I don't see any reason to wait other than the dating scan problems but surely they will be able to fell if I am lucky enough to get pregnant again straight away

Good luck with it all hope everything goes well. I think if you feel ready for it should definitely go for it.

Thanks.

I had a mmc when baby was 12 weeks and 2 days. Had a d and c and received a letter weeks later confirming that they had removed “products of conception” and reaults were normal, ie not a molar pregnancy, so i was told. My baby wasnt tested for chromosomal abnormalities at that gestationx

lynzw · 22/10/2018 07:54

Thanks ithinkthatsenough sorry for your loss. did you try again or leave an amount of time to try again?

It depends on how late your MC was. As far as I am aware the NHS does not routinely test for chromosomal abnormalities in first trimester miscarriages. The exceptions are if it is your third in a row, or if you specifically request (and pay for) the test. Otherwise the ‘normal’ means it was not a molar pregnancy.

Ithinkthatsenough · 23/10/2018 22:44

Hi, we tried more or less straight away, i was recovered physically within days of the d and c.
Im now 8 weeks pregnant, took 4 months to fall pg again, but i am over 35!
Nervous but reminding myself that there is absolutely nothing i can do to change the outcome apart from look after myself xx
Good luck xx

lynzw · 24/10/2018 09:51

@Ithinkthatsenough congrats and sending you lots of good vibes! My d and c was 6 weeks ago now still not had a period but we have been trying but I did a test and got a negative so we shall see x
