Hi I had a miscarriage 2 weeks ago and stopped bleeding a week ago. I have done a pregnancy test and it is now saying negative (never been so relieved to see a negative!) just wondered how long after did you get a period. My husband and I would like to start trying again straight away
Thanks Smile

Hi lynz, I’m so sorry about your mc. I had mine nearly 2 weeks ago too. It’s horrible. I had a follow up scan at the EPU and they could tell from the scan that I’m ovulating. I was told that they treat the date of your mc as the same as date of last period. I’m like you and hubby and I want to try again right away. I’m also getting some pain in my left at the moment which they think is ovulation pain. Hope you are ok x

lynzw · 26/09/2018 16:39

Hi Nicola thanks for your response - wish you and the hubby all the luck in the world. It's such an awful time isn't it but I'm focused on being positive now and moving forward. It feels like ovulation last time round ore pregnancy but just so much stronger I think they say you release more eggs after a miscarriage due to I suppose your body holding onto them whilst pregnant so let's hope we get a nice healthy strong one. I'm trying to focus on I know I can get pregnant which is reassuring just hope it never happens again x

Hi lynzw don’t suppose you’ve had your period yet? I mc on 01/09 stopped bleeding a week later and still no period. Me and the hub have been DTD unprotected since and want to start “trying” so monitoring ovulation etc as soon as I have my first period, never have I wanted a period! Been out for a Sunday lunch with my friends, laughed so much first day since I’ve felt normal and happy x

lynzw · 30/09/2018 21:24

Hi Charr
I had the miscarriage on 7th September and stopped bleeding a week later. I did an ovulation stick a few days ago and it said I'm ovulating so we've just started trying again as we feel physically and mentally ok but I've had no sign of period yet just same as you I bled for first week

Oh okay we’ll keep me updated! I know we are all different but me and you are quite close in date. I’m not getting my hopes up but I would rather just know where I am for closure purposes as well as trying again. I haven’t done ovulation sticks as this time round, personally we do not want to get too obsessed with it, but are they any good?

lynzw · 30/09/2018 22:01

Yeah I suppose they just let you know when you are ovulating so get an idea of good time to try. We have become a lot close since this has happened so are a lot more relaxed and just felt ready to try again. I used an app called Flo first time round trying to conceive and it worked first time and when it calculates I'm ovulating I usually do an ovulation stick just to double check it and it's usually right. I did a pregnancy test first to make sure it was negative and I wasn't pregnant anymore before we started trying. Yeah let me know how you get on too Smile

CharrinCornwall91 · 30/09/2018 22:16

Yes I use Flo too, which is great, especially for my periods. Just where I’ve been so emotionally all over the place one minute I’m so angry and irritable I’m like oh I’m due on! Or my skin has been rubbish since I found out I was pregnant and after my mc I thought oh I’m due on. It’s so annoying, I just feel like I need that normality of my cycle now. Yeah I’ve never felt relieved to see a negative pregnancy test. I said this on another feed but the past week I’ve been getting sharp pains in my abdo and ovary area when I stretch or sneeze anyone have that post mc? X

lynzw · 30/09/2018 22:41

Is there a possibility you could be pregnant again? My friend conceived within the 2 weeks after her miscarriage that's why I ask

For me, it was exactly 4 weeks after a D&C. However, I was told that it could take a lot longer and to visit my GP if it hadn’t come back after 9 or 10 weeks.

CharrinCornwall91 · 01/10/2018 07:13

Wow 9 or 10 weeks! Well there could be a possibility I am pregnant again but I want to leave it a while until I test at least until I would be due on a period and to be kinda level headed to cope with the result either way. But the weeks seem to drag at the moment, I’m just being impatient lol.

Uncreative · 01/10/2018 09:40

To be clear, I was told that it should return before 9-10 weeks but that was when I should see a doctor if it hadn’t.

I got the impression (can’t remember how) that it was possible that I could miss a period and therefore should expect something before or around 8 weeks but not to worry if it was not exactly 8 weeks as not everyone has precise 28 day cycles. So, if I skipped a period and the next one was late, it would put me at the 9/10 week mark.

Post miscarriage has been the only time in my life that I actually wanted a period!

Lemon1 · 07/10/2018 23:09

I am So sorry to hear all of your losses sad
I thought I would share my story as I had no idea what to expect from my body after my miscarriage - there is very little information out there as I guess every woman is so different so I can tell you from my experience. I had a missed miscarriage at 11weeks in July and had an ERPC a week later. I felt sore in my lower abdomen for a few days after, mainly whilst walking around.

The hcg hormone finally left my system after 6weeks and I had a spotting period in September. Between September and October my cycle went from a regular 28day to a 34 day and I am currently on my first normal period (although a lot heavier than usual! I’m not complaining as I’m just so happy to have it back finally! So my first proper period was 10-11weeks after my erpc.

I am going to start trying again this month as hoping this is my body’s way of resetting xxx

lynzw · 07/10/2018 23:32

Sorry for your loss Lemon1.

It's been just over 3 weeks now since my d&c and we did start trying a week after as we just felt ready and just want to move forward. I know it may confuse dating scans and due date estimation if we do fall lucky and conceive this month but just felt ready. Wish you lots of luck with trying again - keep me informed how you get on!

SO Lynzw I've copied this from my thread but I thought I would update you like we said we would! I did a test 2 weeks post MC and it was negative. I’ve just done a test with my GP and it showed a faint line (an hour later after her telling me I cried and I feel very odd at the moment happy but sad it’s strange) I’m not seeing my GP until 30/10 to give it time. But I’m trying to not let it get to me! I’ve been gassy, and have had odd mornings of sickness, I’m tired but apart from that I’m not symptomatic. If it tests positive on the 30/10 il use a digital one to confirm it. So can everyone cross every finger and toe for me please?!

lynzw · 09/10/2018 21:22

Charrincornwall - awwwe that's wonderful news just showed it my husband! I have everything crossed for you! Please keep me updated Smile need them positive vibes will be lovely news

Hmm what do you think? Trying not to get myself excited considering what we went through..got to keep quiet now.

When did you get your first period after miscarriage
NicolaG12 · 12/10/2018 16:02

Hi ladies!
Congrats charr, that looks positive to me!

I’m getting so frustrated and impatient. I’m exactly 4 weeks since I naturally miscarried after scan showed baby had stopped developing. A couple of weeks later I had a follow on scan, pregnancy gone and the scan showed I was ovulating. I’ve been having cramps for the last few days thinking af was coming, but no sign yet. I did a pregnancy test and it came back negative. I was told to wait until Tuesday if af hadn’t showed up but I just can’t help myself. This is so frustrating. Just want to start ttc again. Sorry for rant but none of my friends seem to understand the frustration of all this! X

CharrinCornwall91 · 12/10/2018 16:33

Oh I know Hun it is so fustrating! It’s the time that gets to me all the waiting around its eurgh! Since my miscarriage weeks have felt like months when you are asked to check x y and z in so many weeks. Yes unfortunately my friends have been shit, disappointing actually. They gave me flowers when it happened but none of them have asked me how I am since then. I know we are all different but we didn’t wait for a period...we just DTD and carried on without pressure. Il probably get a telling off from the midwife if this pans out but oh well! Hope it comes soon for you xxxx

NicolaG12 · 12/10/2018 17:02

Aww I know what you mean about friends I got flowers too but now they just being blunt and saying things like “well it was very earlyi the pregnancy” and “something must have been wrong with it, it wouldn’t have been viable.” Just quite hurtful really. To me that was my son or daughter.

We got back on it too as soon as we physically could. It’s so confusing knowing when af should arrive. Time is dragging!

I spoke to my midwife about trying straight away and she said that it’s perfectlh fine though just makes dates difficult though think she said they take the date of your mc as the date of last period. X

lynzw · 12/10/2018 19:09

Yes my doctor to wait 3 months but I think that's because they worry from more of a mental side but we have dealt with it ok and are strong and I'm physically fine now so we want to try straight away. Yes I have heard about trouble with them working out the dating but if that's the only reason they can give then balls to them as far as I'm concerned lol they can surely work it out from the scan. I'm feeling tired and quite strange last few days so I'm praying for a positive pregnancy test soon. Wishing you both all the luck for a successful pregnancy this time round and keep me updated please! As I will you Smilex

NicolaG12 · 13/10/2018 17:47

I’m hoping we all get positives soon! Yes please keep me posted. Af arrived this morning. I’m relieved as it means we can start again though the cramps are worse than normal. Luckily I’m having a quiet weekend! X
