Hi,
I had an erpc last Friday. I was discharge the same day but no one gave me any after care information.
I was lucky enough to already have a holiday booked to Cyprus & flew out one Sunday. It seemed like the perfect way for me & my husband to recover. I’ve been in & out of the sea & pool without much thought but suddenly had a realisation today that maybe I shouldn’t be doing that. I started to google it & now I’m feeling stupid, it seems I shouldn’t have gone anywhere near the water. I’m terrified I’ve gone & caused additional problems.
Please can anyone offer any reassurance. Is the advice I’ve seen on the internet over cautious? Should I seek a doctor ASAP for antibiotics? Is there anything else that is an absolute no no?
The EPU doesn’t answer the phone & my docs haven’t called back yet.
Thank you in advance to anyone who can help. X

I had one in June, advised to do a pregnancy test after 3 weeks to check was negative if not to then contact the epau. I know it's advised to not have sex until the bleeding has completely stopped to avoid the risk of infection and when and if you're up to trying again, have at least one natural period so it's easier to date a new pregnancy. Any heavy blood loss to contact the epau. I think that's really bad that they didn't give you any aftercare advice. Xx

I think I remember them saying to avoid having a bath until the bleeding had completely stopped, was ok to have a shower. I know everyone is different but wanted to give you a heads up a few weeks after the surgery I had what the hospital called a sudden brisk loss of blood which can sometimes happen after erpc, it took me totally by surprise, heavy loss for a day which then turned lighter but did continue for about 10 days.
