Natural miscarriage

Hi,

I’d like to share my experience of a natural miscarriage.

Yesterday, I started cramping a little, so I applied a hot water bottle which eased the cramps. I didn’t think anything of it at the time as cramping can be normal in early pregnancy. I was 11 weeks yesterday, give or take, our scan wasn’t booked until I was 12+4.

I got into the shower and I noticed blood, cramping + blood made me realise what was happening.

That evening, the cramping got worse, like strong period cramps, I kept the hot water bottle on me and I took paracetamol. The cramps got worse, like contractions they were bearable though, I think the paracetamol, water and hot water bottle helped a lot.

At 20:45 I went to the loo after the cramp like contractions had stopped and more blood came out, then what felt like the sac/baby. I wasn’t sure because it went right back to the back of the loo. After that the pains subsided. I was up and down to the loo until midnight, lots of bits of tissues coming out. It all seemed to happen so quickly and spontaneously.

I didn’t phone a doctor because there wasn’t anything that they could do to help. I am however going to my local EPU today to explain everything and to get checked over.

I can honestly say that it takes a strong woman to have a natural miscarriage, it takes guts. The emotional side is by far worse than any physical pain that you may be in.

Keep strong ladies.
