Length of first period?

I miscarried at 12 weeks in June and finally after 61 days of continuous bleeding I stopped for 4 days before I got my first period. It started light for two days and now it’s been heavy for the last 3 days. It doesn’t seem to be easing off much and I’m still passing quite a lot of clots, filling a pad every 2 hours.
I’m just wondering how long other’s have been as this is definitely longer than I would normally have. I’m desperate to ttc and docs said when this period is finished I have the all clear to try. Fingers crossed it stops soon!

So sorry for your loss and the experience you've been through afterwards. That really doesn't sound normal to me - bleeding for 2 months after, 4 day break and now bleeding so heavily sounds like there's something wrong, maybe retained tissue. Have you spoken to a medic about the bleeding?

I don't think there is much by way of 'normal' where miscarriage and how the body deals with it afterwards is concerned but I was advised after mine (baby stopped growing at 10weeks, found in 12 weeks scan) that if I was still bleeding after 14 days I was to go back in to be examined. It stopped for me on day 13! Period came 28 days later and was pretty normal. The advise on TTC after was to wait until after that period

I hope you have someone to hold your hand through this, it really is awful but you will get through to the other side x

@doddlebobs thanks for your comment. We were similar timeframes with baby. I’m sorry this happened to you too.
Yeah I’ve had three internal scans since. I was medically managed and a week later I was vomiting in pain and they performed an emergency d&c after internal scan. Then I had a follow up after two weeks and they said cervix had 10mm to close but no tissue left. Then another exam 3 weeks after that and doc said all closed. No tissue left but a cyst now on my left ovary but said it looked like a post ovulation cyst and should go away on its own. Doc said some people just bleed longer and I had to wait it out. I have another internal exam on 10th September but I’m hoping that period will stop soon so we can try again. Normally my periods are about 5 days. But asnim on day 5 now and bleeding still very heavy I’m guessing this one will go on for longer. I just need it to be finished now. So hard to move on when I have this constant reminder every time I go to the bathroom.

I'm sorry for your loss. Our stories sound very similar. My baby's heartbeat stopped at 11 weeks. Medical management for 3 days did not work so I had a D and C. I bled for 3 weeks. Stopped for one and started what I thought was my period. I have been bleeding for a full month, heavier in the morning with clots which lighten throughout the day. I have had scans and also have a cyst on my right ovary. Everything else is fine. I was told to wait it out and things should settle. It's so exhausting but I can't wait for things to go back to normal x

@Lailou18 thanks for your reply. I’m sorry you are going through something similar. I think our situations are the worst as it’s so hard to heal and move on from when you have a daily reminder. I’ve not bleed for 5 days. Longest I’ve ever stopped for since the miscarriage. I’m hoping that the continual bleeding is done now.
What I do seem to have now is incredible pain over my ovaries. It’s a continual period cramp pain all over and a throbbing pain over my ovary. Especially over the left ovary where my cyst is. I wondered if it was ovulation but so far all the ovulation strips I’m trying are coming up negative. I’m terrified I have a further complication from this miscarriage. I have another internal scan on Monday 10th so I’m hoping I will get some answers then. I’m going crazy overthinking everything!

They told me that everyone's story is diff so try not to worry. I have the cramps as well but they said the uterus is tryin to get back to normal. This was my first pregnancy. Trying to be positive and look to the future but its so hard when not feeling like my normal self. I just got strips yesterday as well. I knew I wouldn't be ovulating with the bleeding but still tried a strip. My bleeding stopped for one day in the last month. I tried reflexology for the first time that day amd it all started up again. The lady seemed to think I had a thickened lining, she told me it would prob start again and it did the very next day!

@lailou18 thanks for thinking of me. We actually got good news today! The cyst has gone with my last period and I haven’t bleed for over a week now. Docs are sure after 12 weeks of pain and misery it is over with now. We have the ok to try again so I’m hoping that we have our bfp again and soon! Typically I got a positive on the ovulation test on Thursday when my partner was away for work for the week. He came back on Friday night and we tried. I doubt it worked as so late but I’m holding onto a little hope for the next 10 days. If not this month hopefully the next!

Hopefully all your pain stops soon as well! It’s so horrendous to go through a miscarriage never mind one that just doesn’t seem to ever end!!
