Irregular periods after mmc

Hi ladies, needing a little advice and any related stories people can offer...

I had a mmc (missed miscarriage) 26th April, was a very long process, paid for a private early scan a week before, was told the baby had not developed how it should have, body was 10 weeks pregnant, sac was only measuring 5.5 weeks. Arranged to have MVA (manual vacuum aspiration) under local anaesthetic for a couple days time, but started to miscarry naturally, had to go to A&E as was bleeding through 3 pads in 10 minutes and passing clots the size of tennis balls and was found to be haemorrhaging. After many scans that day, sac was still in place so was given medical intervention to finish the process, but even after 24 hours nothing had happened so MVA was still scheduled for the next day. MVA was comepleted and as if nothing else could go wrong...I went into cervical shock after the procedure. Luckily, i was stabilised and able to go home later that evening.

Its now been 3 months since the mmc and my periods are behaving not as I would like them to. First cycle after the mmc was exactly 28 days, 2nd cycle was 28 days, I'm now on day 33 of my 3rd cycle and absolutely nothing!! I've done numerous pregnancy tests and they are all negative, not the we have been actively trying! I'm super frustrated as my husband and I agreed to wait 3 months until we started ttc (trying to conceive) again as we had a number of holidays coming up etc... and now the month that we can eventually start ttc...my cycle is completely messed up!!! I've been having browny/pinky discharge for the past 3 days, but nothing to write home about...only happening when I wipe, on and off but apart from that, I have no signs of AF (Aunt Flo) coming?!?!

The stress of it all is probably not helping matters but I'm getting so upset and depressed about it all now....I just want to start ttc again!!!! Also, when would it be a good idea to go to the doctor's?

Please Help Sad x

Sorry for your loss.
When this happened to me my periods (which had always been like clockwork 28 days) were a bit irregular for about 6 months (cycles were anything from 26 days to 36) and I also didn’t have a period at all one month (other than a bit of very light spotting).
They are now back to normal and my doctor told me it’s very common for this to happen as the hormones are all over the place. Could you try taking a hormone balancer like Agnus Castus or Ashwaghanda?

I'm so sorry for your loss also. Thank you for your reassurance that the same thing has happened to you also (although not nice), it really does put me a little more at ease.

I've never heard of those hormone balancer's before but I shall definitely research them? Can you get them from shops like holland and Barratt?! Did the doctor advise you to take them? or just to allow your system to recorrect itself?

Thank you!
Yes you can get them from there and places like Amazon. Doctor recommended them to me and there are loads of reviews online about how they sorted out a lot of hormonal issues. Definitely check them out.
Maybe give it until day 40 to see if your period shows up naturally then the Dr can give you a tablet which brings a period on. They can also do blood tests to check your hormone levels to make sure your progesterone levels aren’t too low

@JessieK2801 my cycles were very messed up for a year after my mc. My obgyn just said yeah, that happens, basically.
I had fairly light periods before the mc. Now I can barely leave the house on days 1-2. I'm hopeful another pregnancy will eventually sort it out!

I tried agnus cactus for what it's worth, however it lengthened my cycle. It works for some people though. It's frustrating I know Thanks

@ Frosty66612

I will definitely give it a little more time and then see what the doctor can offer me if no period arrives. I did have a progesterone blood test done around 6 weeks ago, as I have always thought I may have had PCOS, due to being excissvely hairier than the average woman etc... and feared thats what could have caused the mmc (not having enough progesterone levels for embryo to thrive) but the results came back normal for that time frame, but it's something that I would definitely suggest again if AF does not show up any time soon. Thank You.

@usernameismyusername

Sorry for your loss.

Wow, The mc completely changed your cycles. It's so amazing how it can affect your system/hormones so much isn't it?

I guess it's something that I am just going to have to ride with until it sorts itself out?

If nothing arrives soon, I shall definitely give Agnus cactus a shot to see if it helps at all. If it happens to regulate the cycles, do you then stop taking when ttc?
