Missed miscarriage

Hi everyone I'm feeling really alone and confused right now and just wanted some advice from people who unfortunately have had to go through this. I had my first scan on Tuesday I was 15 weeks 5 days pregnant and was sadly told my baby had passed away when it was 8weeks and 3 days. We were both devastated. Later that night I started to bleed but not heavy. The next day I went on to have some what heavier bleeding and then at 2am I woke up to a horrible pressure in my pelvic area and I knew something was about to happen. I started to get mild to medium contractions which got stronger . I woke my partner and went down stairs to take a painkiller and get a drink and while I was sitting down I felt a 'pop' in my lower stomach.. I went to the toilet soon after and started to pass only a few clots nothing huge but also had bleeding running out of me as if i was peeing. This lasted only 5 minutes and soon after the contractions stopped and I fell asleep eventually by 6am. From listening and watching videos on miscarriage I was expecting a lot more blood and a lot more tissue and now I'm confused wether I should be expecting for this to happen again even though it's now 5:30pm and I've been fine today apart from a very light bleed when I use the bathroom and the odd cramp here and there or was that the full miscarriage and if so why did I have such a different experience from other woman who miscarried around the same time as I did ? I'd appreciate any advice I could get as I don't have another hospital appointment until Monday morning. Thank you

Hi Mumlifee,

It's really difficult feeling alone and confused right now and so hard to learn about your child. I know the feeling of devastation when you learn your child has passed. I found out at my 12 week scan that my baby was the size of 8 weeks and 6 days which was so awful as I had just seen my baby's heartbeat at 8 weeks and 2 days.

I waited three weeks for a natural miscarriage and apart from some spotting / light bleeding and one evening of labour like cramp (which I thought was the start) I experienced nothing. I went into hospital yesterday to start medical management and the process happened almost straight away.

This is my experience:

15:50 - I took medication
16:30 - I experienced period cramp
17:00 - blood started
17:41 - passed placenta and cord (same as you - a 'pop')
18:07 - period pain, which became stronger
19:00 - passed large clot
19:30 - passed baby

Some of your baby / placenta could have reabsorbed by the body, which may be why you haven't experienced much. I would either call 111 if your are really worried (assuming you are in the UK) or, if you aren't in any further pain, wait until you can be scanned in hospital. It also might be that your miscarriage is happening in stages, which can be normal too.

Sending you love and hope at this time. xxx

Hi OP sending love your way. I have also experienced this too I went for my 12 week scan at over 13 weeks and was told baby had no heart beat and was looking about 9 weeks I chose surgery but that didn't go to plan but I won't bore you. I was shocked at how quickly it all happened once it started I lost a hell of alot of blood and clots but it was all over within a few hours. I bled alot more and for over a week when I had a loss at 6 weeks but 2 weeks later my tests are negative and I had a scan which showed no retained product so it really can be over so quick. If you are concerned get checked out but aslong as you feel ok, arnt in pain which are worse than mild cramps and arnt bleeding more than a pad I'd say you'll be ok. Thoughts and hugs xx
