Sorry I know this is a very sensitive subject for some, please don’t read if the topic upsets you as it’s quite detailed.
I’m only 18 and I’m on the contraceptive pill full time, so I haven’t had a period in about 4 months as that’s when I started it full time. My partner and I aren’t currently trying to conceive but we really would love kids in the near future and we always say if it happens, it happens. About 5/4 weeks ago I missed a few pills and took some very late, and around 3 weeks ago I took 2 pregnancy test- one clear blue one which came back negative, and also took a boots own brand one, which came back with one very strong line and then a faint one, so possibly a positive?? But I left it at that and thought I’ll do the tests again in a few weeks time when there’s a more likely chance of them turning out positive if I am. Anyway the past 3 weeks I’ve had intense cramps in my stomach and uterus and lower back every now and then, a few times a day but just thought nothing of it.
Yesterday my partner and I came on holiday to Tenerife in the Canary Islands to have a little break when all of a sudden on the plane I started spotting, which isn’t really normal for me and I haven’t missed any pills lately. Then yesterday evening around 5 I had a shower and noticed blood running down my leg and just thought maybe the altitude of the airplane brought on a period or my body was a bit confused. I had blood and some sort of pink mucus/discharge all evening then.
We went to the hotel restaurant for dinner, and on the way back up to the room I had a huge cramp and quickly rushed to the toilet as I felt uneasy, when a huge blood clot came out, nothing like I’ve ever seen before it was about the size of a large strawberry. In a panic, I finished my business and went outside to tell my partner but as I was explaining what had happened I felt another intense cramp come and I felt something come out of me into my underwear, so I ran back to the toilet.
I was in absolute shock when I pulled my underwear down to see what looked like a little jelly-bean looking thing. I knew exactly what it was right away but I just couldn’t believe it. Me and my partner just don’t know what to do, do I need to go to the hospital? I’m only young and currently away so I’m very scared to go and get checked out, and my friend said it’s best I did incase something happens! Any advice?

Sorry to hear you are going through this. The normal advice is if you have very bad pain and/or you are bleeding heavily which my early pregnancy unit told me was filling a pad in an hour you should go to a and e.
Only you know your body and if anything doesn't feel right then it would be best to seek help.
For me the pain was similar to period type cramps and the bleeding was like a very heavy period and lasted about a week before tailing off. People are different so may be different for you too. Also do not use tampons or have sex until bleeding has stopped because of a risk of infection.
I hope you are ok and manage to have a relaxing holiday but please do seek some help if you feel at all unwell.

Oh I am sorry Thanks
Yes it sounds like both my miscarriages. As PP said, towels not tampons, take it easy and be exceptionally kind to yourself x

Thank you for your advice! The bleeding has already began to slow down 24 hours later and isn’t half as bad as last night and this morning so I think I should be ok. Thanks again.
