POF and 2 Miscarriages

Hello, just wondering if anyone out there has had a similar experience to me. I am 41 and in June 2017 was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure (POF) after having FSH readings of 49 and 56 and having no period since coming off the pill in February 2017. On 8th October 2017 I found out I was 7 weeks pregnant (naturally) as you can imagine my partner and I were over the moon, however we lost our little girl at 17+5 weeks (post mortem results showed she had Down's syndrome and a severe heart defect). We found out at the beginning of February 2018 that we were pregnant again but we lost our baby at around 5/6 weeks. Fast forward to 2nd may 2018 and I have had my first period since February 2017. My partner and I are desperately trying to get pregnant naturally again. Does anyone have a similar experience?

Hi @ElStones76. So sorry to hear about your miscarriages.

No advice to share really, other than in a similar situation with four miscarriages under my belt, the last of which was last week. Just turned 42, so concerned age is a contributing factor.

I have been referred to the Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic and have sent last pregnancy for testing. I am assuming you have had similar referrals and supports? How have you found these? You mention you are trying again naturally, are you doing anything different in your approach this time?

Hi PineapplePrincess
So sorry to hear about your miscarriages.
My consultant advised that I would have to have 3 miscarriages before any testing would be done to see why. The first miscarriage was due to our little girl having Down’s syndrome which resulted in a severe heart defect. There was no reason for the second, it just ‘wasn’t meant to be’.
Before I got pregnant the first time I’d been having regular reflexology sessions and I firmly believe that helped. I’ve started the sessions again and I’m also having acupuncture. My reflexologist also uses crystals during the reflexology sessions. I’m reading a book called The Secret, it’s all about changing the way you think about things and that by changing your mindset and believing in things you can make them happen.
We’ve got an appt with our fertility consultant on 8th June, if nothing positive comes from that then we will go for donor egg IVF.
Are you doing anything differently to help with your fertility?
Fingers crossed we both get some good news soon.
Xx
